use a cliplead or whatever to ground the PI input (at the .02 cap) - listen for noise, if no -  your lead from the master voulume needs rerouted or sheilded if yes - ground the point where the 24k and the .01 meet (NFB) if no noise(and you're sure the output transformer leads are not reversed) redo the presence pot and make sure its only grounded once where you want to ground it. I'm making the assumption you have already checked for leakage through the .01 ouput coupling caps by measuring for DC.

Hi all,thanks very much for the help everyone.
It seems the amp is working fine and sounding great with 2x6v6.
Haven`t had the time to try the el34`s but i am expecting no trouble.

Congratulations Ed!  Let us know if you try EL34's and how you liked them.  I am currently awaiting DLite iron for a homegrown build and intend on giving that a go as well.
