Well I have been starting this project now for two months.
I have a built a few kits before but nothing like this from scratch.
I thought I had ordered all the parts however it seems almost every few days I realize I forgot something.
So, I will post some pics as I go please feel free to correct my mistakes or offer suggestions and thanks to everyone on here who have helped with
so much advice and information.
Let me start with my FET board I know some of the wires are not correct
I am just checking to see if it is ok to wire point to point with this board
I tried to find a pre traced board with no luck

I've always put the interconnect jumpers on the opposite side.

Is this an Rj 124 kit? Looks like one of his boards. Are you building in comparison to the 124 schematic and layout in the files section? I like to cross reference to the Ceritone layouts also.
With this type of board, keep your components on the top and your connecting wire underneath. Use as little connecting wire as possible.

Are you sure you don't mean #124?
Check out other members builds to see how they did their lead dress as well as refer to the latest #124 layout which pretty much shows how everything is wired.

thanks yes that was a typo its 124 not 123

Is it normal to fall asleep with the schematic in your bed
next to you?

Nice workstation, sleeping with the schematic...... looks like you are well on your way to becoming one of "us".
The Rj kits are flipped, meaning tubes up verses the conventional tubes down. You may find this flipped layout helpful.

It would be confusing for this old man for sure.
OK, yeah #124, there is a ton of stuff here on that amp including photos of the real deal.
Man, your work bench is way too neat and tidy!!
I hope that UltraHookedOnPhonix doesn't mind but
these pictures are a huge resource to show how good an amp
can be built if you are patient.
His build is #183 so don't let any subtle differences throw you off, this is mainly to show lead dress and construction techniques.

It's probably some kind of lock tite to keep the nuts from coming loose but nothing to worry about at this stage.echo44 wrote:and what the black stuff people cover contacts with?

I use the nylok type lock nuts on my builds.
You can use those or star washers or any type of locking nut.
My reason for posting those pictures was to encourage you and demonstrate what excellent lead dress looks like.
