Interesting, I guess for 4K the power tubes are an option.

Anybody know what that "extra large" shielded tube might be????

Since it looks like a Sunn chassis (with Fender transformers) it might be a 6AN8....

Henry, you are probably right, Dr D. used the Dynaco as the basis for a lot of his early amps (Dumbleland, Winterland etc) and the Dynaco used the 6AN8 as a driver.

I don't understand the inflated prices of every piece that HAD built. There's no real usefulness in this piece. A few years ago you could grab an ODS for $3-4K, today they bring 10x that. That's just sillyness, especally considering Fuchs / 2 Rock etc.

I think it comes from two sources. One is the fact few were made, and the second is artist recognition. Robben, Larry, Sonny, SRV and others used his amps and they were a part of their tone.

Years ago, I bought a 1964 Vibroverb for about $200.00. Due to SRV's use of that amp in the 80's the price now has skyrocketed into the 3500 to 4000 dollar range.

Also taking to well known Dumble owners you find out that there are still things in the Dumble tone signature that others have yet to find/figure out. This is where my personal tone quest is now heading.

In 1964 I bought a Gibson Firebird IV for $175. After several years fighting with tusing and heavy neck issues I sold it for $175. THAT NIGHT I went to a show with a new band from England featuring a blues guitarist. He was playing a Firebird IV.

The guy I sold my guitar to got $3000 2 weeks later.

That was of course Cream and Eric Clapton.

I hate that stuff. That guitar was not worth 3000 1968 dollars.

The large shield is for the 12BH7 CF driver after the PI me thinks.

Interesting, I wouldn't think you would need that kind of drive for a pair of output tubes.

Of course it was HAD.
