Build Complete-Quad 6V6 Early Doo Doo Brown Style
Here's the new build in progress; kind of a spin on what little is known about of #004 with some ODD vibe tossed in. In the spirit of the early vibe, I going with a traditional style PS instead of the precision styled PS.
4th Gen Transitional classic tone stack
Adj trigger funky OD network
2N3823 FET
Heyboer Marshall 50W M6 iron
Heyboer PT- around 405V on the plates
Quad 6V6:Tung Sol RI
JJ's V1-V3, V=12AT7
Main board mocked up for parts fitment, values subject to change. Nearly all of the chassis exterior wiring in done.

I'll definitely be following this, I've been wanting to do a quad 6v6 build for some time.

I would have been cool looking if I would have went with my first plan and used chocolate paxolin.dcribbs1412 wrote:Looks really cool TM

Thanks Darin I'm just the NOS parts junkman and I like to use period correct parts when I can find them. For me, it mainly keeps the whole process interesting and I do believe that it makes a difference.
It's a 1M, but I've even debated about using a pot in it's place. From my earlier 2G build I wondered how would this OD network would behave if it had a bit more or a bit less gain. Also, I guess I'm still going to have the FET level adjustable via a small knob at the rear as well.

Someday I hope to do a build with a decent amount of NOS parts.ToneMerc wrote:I would have been cool looking if I would have went with my first plan and used chocolate paxolin.dcribbs1412 wrote:Looks really cool TM

Great ideas...should cover a lot of adjustments. There's a 2/3G build in my future...would love to here what you think of your OD additions with different trimmer settings...
On my current build(in progress) I'm trying the FET on a relay...using a 10KL pot in the FET jack...

Yep, those are some tasty innards.
I'd love to build one of each but no dice.
So I will live vicariously through your builds.

TM, I love the period correct parts! I don't have enough CDE brown blobs to do a #004 but I do have some ARCO-EM which I believe are similar construction (difilms).
The schematic dwgs of #004 I have don't identify the PI entrance cap value. How did you arrive at .005uF?

David if the are the same ElectroMotive caps as the PI couplers above they are paper/poly like the early Sprague 6PS.David Root wrote:TM, I love the period correct parts! I don't have enough CDE brown blobs to do a #004 but I do have some ARCO-EM which I believe are similar construction (difilms).

That .005 value is from the Overdrive Deluxe that's in the files section. I debated about whether to attempt the starve switch and since it appears that the power schematic section was incomplete, I went with what I know. Now by the time that everything is soldered up, all the plates may be 100K and values of the PI values may match the drawings.

So you've decided against the starve switch?

Starve switch
Dumble did. He didn't use it much after the early ones.
TM, that makes sense on the .005 PI entrance. So max signal headroom thru the PI.

Home Stretch
Just about done minus completing the NFB circuit and mounting the PT.

Is this layout close to what you built?

Re: Build Complete-Quad 6V6 Early Doo Doo Brown Style
Not really, take #004 basic topology and spin it this way:
1. Adjustable 2nd Gen OD network
2. Low PI plates
3. 4th Gen classic tone stack
4. Piher CF on cathodes like seen in the Overdrive Deluxe
