Curious about series diodes before a tube rec, any adverse issues?
Also as the silicon has done the job, are we able to up the first filter capacity?
Do protection diodes on tube rec alter function?

None that I know of.azatplayer wrote:Curious about series diodes before a tube rec, any adverse issues?
The SS rectifier will do virtually nothing to limit the forward current, so the filter capacitance limitation still applies.azatplayer wrote:Also as the silicon has done the job, are we able to up the first filter capacity?

Re: Do protection diodes on tube rec alter function?
Thanks Martin. I guessed as much but didn't know for sure.
Another question you might answer before I post it, I need to drop some B+ but only have some higher voltage droPs than I need,12 volts zeners.
Can I run them in parallel? And what affect does that have with zeners? Does it halve or double amps/volts?

Re: Do protection diodes on tube rec alter function?
Each SS diode has a 0.6V forward voltage drop, which is added to the tube rectifier's much bigger voltage drop, and so we might say that the SS diode's voltage drop amounts to a drop in the bucket so to speak
He who dies with the most tubes... wins
