I was going through an old Super60 combo sorting out many issues. It is working great now. As I went I noticed that the coupling caps for V1 were different from original, 0.022uF instead of .0047. Trying to get it back to stock as possible, I put a couple of orange drop .005s in it instead (what I had that was closest to original).
It was working so poorly before I did a lot of stuff so I have no comparison point and I am mainly wondering the reasons behind the prior mod.
I've previously seen a mod suggestion in Premier Guitar magazine online to change these cap values to 0.01 to provide "fuller signal range". Am I on the right track that going higher on the cap value increases mainly the bass response? Would this affect volume/gain levels significantly? If so, how noticeable do you think it would be at 0.01 versus the stock 0.0047?
Still learning, bit by bit....
Thanks in advance!

Re: Fender Super60 coupling cap values
Yes, the larger the value of a coupling cap, the more bass it will let through.

Re: Fender Super60 coupling cap values
Thanks Tom! I appreciate the confirmation.
I finally got it all back together after I cut it down into a head and retolexed. The combo cab and baffle was totally shot and wobbly causing major tube microphonic issues. Now it will go for another 20 years, hopefully. It sounds great with the .005s, with plenty of bass, in my opinion, through an EVM 12L 1x12 open back cab.

Looks good!
I wish I could find some decent amps to work on around here.
Most of the junk around here is SS practice amps and cheap junk that is not even worth firing up the iron for.
