Troubleshooting - Fender Blues Deville Stutters

Post by zzallin »

I have a fender Blues deville that stutters when the drive channel is engaged. The signal is fine until it hits R20. Anyone have any idea what it could be?

Here's a video of an audio probe on both sides of R20.

What's your method? Does that red probe carry signal?

Which side of R20?

On the schematic, it shows 2.34 vac at one side of it - if you're sending more than that via the probe, you might be getting cutoff? Dunno, that's off the top of my head.

Thats a classic deluxe/ deville problen.

Resolder the two power resistors on the circuit board and you'll be fine.

Cool, what was the final outcome? What caused the fault?

See these two threads, both of which deal with those pesky, underrated resistors:

Re-soldered the power resistors.
