Dumble Lite: GAS, effects loop, modded fender etc.

Post by cloudnine »

I am totally blown away by the clips of this amp. Is there a way to implement an fx loop with this particular layout without compromising the tone? How do the Fuchs/Two Rock guys do theirs? And can the extra circuitry fit into the D. Lite chassis?
Also, unfortunately I have no soldering experience. Is there someone you could direct me to to build me one? Would it be worth using an older, complete Fender or other chassis as starting point in my case?

Sorry about posting this in the wrong section initially.

The effects loop would be implemented just before the phase invertor. I've done this on several amps with no degredation in the tone. Dumble used an external device he called the Dumbelator for an active effects loop instead of adding the ckt inside. I built one and the jury's still out. I feel like it gets in the way of the basic Dumble tone.

If you want an amp built I can do it for you. You could buy a D-Lite kit and send it to me. I'll give you a good price for labor. PM me if you're interested.

Bob-I would be a superb candidate to build you an amp.

On the topic of building out the D'Lite, I'd like to mention that we are taking a few orders for production units at this time.

The production line is available as a head or combo, and has a few features that are not included in the kits, like OD & PAB foot-switching, FX loop, reverb, etc., as well as a few other enhancements that would have taken they kits way out of "lite" territory.

So feel free to email me if you have questions.

Thanks!

*edit*

I imagine there will be some discussion on d'lite mods once everybody gets their kits, that will inspire all kinds of good ideas....that should be fun!

Don't know if it's a GOOD idea but something has been pervasive during my commute the last few days... I see that you have several shades of brown tolex available for the cabinets. Might it be possible to select a dark brown tolex for my <drum roll> chocolate D'Lite? <rim shot, cymbal crash>

Yeah, I'm getting excited about this next build.
