Did a slightly dumb thing and changed out my original filter can (20/20/20/20) and my OT for new units from Fliptops at the same time.
Went to the new filter can to see if that would clean up some of the muddiness at higher volume, ( just one of many things I'm trying ), and went with the new OT-151A from Fliptops which has a 4ohm tap as well as 8.
Now I have a steady nagging buzz, guitar connected or not, and buzz increases with volume knob setting. Not a huge buzz, but more than what used to be there. Like a single coil buzz, but it's there even when guitar not connected.
Lesson learned - I should not have changed two things at the same time before testing in between.
Never did this high a buzz prior, I am guessing this is the new filter can, but before I dive into that :
[Q] Any way this could be the OT ?

Are you sure everything is properly grounded? if you are soldering to the chassis make sure it took. it's very easy to get a cold solder.
