Hi! I would put in my marshall 1966A cabinet one EVM12L and a Celestion G12-65, is a good idea?

It's not a bad idea, as long as you have them wired properly and know which (series or parallel) wiring you have and are close to the proper impedance on your output tranny. If that's done, the only question is does it sound right to you?

I get good results mixing:

( 1 ) 16 ohm G-12-65
( 1 ) 16 ohm G-12-85
( 1 ) 8 ohm Evm-12-L

The Ev handles all the clean/OD lows and the Celestions handle the Clean/OD highs nice.

Both speakers compliment each other, I guess it is all preference though.

dont look at that like a problem though. So what? is there a rule that says your guitar speakers have to be equally efficient. Sometimes the volume difference can help with tone.

For example, alone you might think the celestion has harsh upper mids, but once you use the EVM it masks the harsh upper mids and can sound sweeter (this is by no means a real life example of what these speakers sound like, i just used this as an example)

bottom line both speakers provide their own frequencies and tone, and mixing can blend these tones for a more 3D sound

When A/B-ing the G12 65 with EVM12L they would be the perfect match. G12 65 for low mids and EVM12L for highs and upper mids. But the extreme volume jump when A/B-ing the 2, makes me reluctant to combine them.
Maybe someone else can chime in for real life experiments.

Good.. my fender bassman 1967 OT tranny is a 4Ohm , one EVM12L 8 Ohm + G12-65 8Ohm in parallel..

I've been using that combination for several years and like it very much. I use separate cabs into both speaker outs so I can also unplug one or the other if I like to get the sounds associated with those separate speakers (LC and RF). I also sometimes use a 2X12 with an EV and a greenback in tandem. This into one speaker out and the single 12-65 into the other is my overall favorite but it's a lot to carry (stays in the house). Try it and let your ears decide.

A have a pair of Thieles -- one with an EVM12L and the other with a Swamp Thang. I also have two open-back 1X12's with a G12-65 and a Scumback H55. I've tried all combinations and they all sound good. The EVM/G12 mix is nice to the ear but the Celestion is more accent to the Electrovoice. Sounds nice -- but not an equal partnership. Keep in mind the ported cab was designed for maximum thrust. Even with both speakers in the same cab, I'd look for the EV to overwhelm the Celestion.
