D'lator BOM ?

Hi there, thanks to this great forum (and the Ceriatone too), I am going to order a Ceriatone 50w OTS HRM as soon as the planes get flying again.

I also would like to put together a D'lator, has anyone got a BOM that will make ordering the parts easier. I would just get the kit from Nik but I think the weight will kill me on the shipping (4kg apparently).

It doesn't look too hard so I will have a go myself. Finding a 240v trannie in the UK may be the hardest part as well as a suitable 1U rack case.

I got mine from Maplin for £30. It's slightly deeper than needed, but makes for a nice unit.

Just looked on Maplin, they don't seem to do them anymore.

I think the Hammond low profile ones from Mouser seem quite good, you need 2.

229B12 12VA 12.6V C.T. @ 900ma 6.3V @ 1.8A

229B230 12VA 230V C.T. @ 50ma 115V @ 100ma

They only cost about £20 for the pair and will fit inside a 1U.

The other alternative is the toroidal 1N242

secondaries: 230V @ 0.06A + 6.3V @ 2.5A

Apologies rogb, I was referring to the 1u rack which I purchased from Maplin. I got my tranny from the legendary Funkalicousgroove!

Others seem to have had great success with the toroidal type tranny's. Check out posts by erwin_ve who used the Amplimo 1N242.

Hi rogb,

One piece of useful info I had for my D'lator build was;

Were you ever tempted to go for the all trannie Kleinulator?

I must say at $120 complete it seems a whole lot easier!

I still hanker after the real McCoy (clone) so I am going for the valve jobbie, but it is tempting to sling one in with my OTS HRM order

I don't think Kleinm had the Kleinulator for sale when I was working on my D'lator.

Although the Kleinulator is an excellent unit from what I've heard, I think the only way to go is with a D'lator. It adds a great deal to the amp, tone wise, as well as giving you a buffered loop.

Thanks Paul, with the Excel BOM I have I am just pricing up and it has links to Mouser for the parts, so as soon as the planes start flying , I will get my order to Nik for the HRM and to Mouser for the majority of the parts for the Dlator.

I will pop down to Maplins and pick up the 1U case too.

Maplins don't have them in store, you will have to order it online. Their shipping is very reasonable though. @ £3 I think.
