D'lator BOM ?
Hi there, thanks to this great forum (and the Ceriatone too), I am going to order a Ceriatone 50w OTS HRM as soon as the planes get flying again.
I also would like to put together a D'lator, has anyone got a BOM that will make ordering the parts easier. I would just get the kit from Nik but I think the weight will kill me on the shipping (4kg apparently).
It doesn't look too hard so I will have a go myself. Finding a 240v trannie in the UK may be the hardest part as well as a suitable 1U rack case.
Thanks
Roger

Ask Nik at ceriatone if you can only buy the tranny. ;)rogb wrote:Hi there, thanks to this great forum (and the Ceriatone too), I am going to order a Ceriatone 50w OTS HRM as soon as the planes get flying again.

Re: D'lator BOM ?
rogb,
I got mine from Maplin for £30. It's slightly deeper than needed, but makes for a nice unit.

Thanks for the replies fellas.
Guitarman, could you give me the spec of the Maplins trannie, please?
Looks like it will do the job, very tidy build, as well, I will try to get mine up to that standard

If you are UK based then something like this should do the trick

Re: D'lator BOM ?
Just looked on Maplin, they don't seem to do them anymore.
I think the Hammond low profile ones from Mouser seem quite good, you need 2.
229B12 12VA 12.6V C.T. @ 900ma 6.3V @ 1.8A
229B230 12VA 230V C.T. @ 50ma 115V @ 100ma
They only cost about £20 for the pair and will fit inside a 1U.
The other alternative is the toroidal 1N242
secondaries: 230V @ 0.06A + 6.3V @ 2.5A
http://tubeaudiosound.com/files/1n242.pdf
It's about 42€.

Others seem to have had great success with the toroidal type tranny's. Check out posts by erwin_ve who used the Amplimo 1N242.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,

Try to use a RN65 for the plate, and away you go. The rest of the parts are pretty straight forward.. I use type 225p caps, the 2PS caps used in some of the originals are impossible to find, and 600v caps are too big.
The larger caps like .47 and .22 are 200v for size, the .1 and .047 are 400v
Good luck.

Re: D'lator BOM ?
Thanks for that Paul, very helpful.
Were you ever tempted to go for the all trannie Kleinulator?
I must say at $120 complete it seems a whole lot easier!
I still hanker after the real McCoy (clone) so I am going for the valve jobbie, but it is tempting to sling one in with my OTS HRM order

Anyway I like building stuff...

Re: D'lator BOM ?
rogb,
I don't think Kleinm had the Kleinulator for sale when I was working on my D'lator.
Although the Kleinulator is an excellent unit from what I've heard, I think the only way to go is with a D'lator. It adds a great deal to the amp, tone wise, as well as giving you a buffered loop.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Paul.

Re: D'lator BOM ?
Thanks Paul, with the Excel BOM I have I am just pricing up and it has links to Mouser for the parts, so as soon as the planes start flying
, I will get my order to Nik for the HRM and to Mouser for the majority of the parts for the Dlator.
I will pop down to Maplins and pick up the 1U case too.
Cheers
Rog

Maplins don't have them in store, you will have to order it online. Their shipping is very reasonable though. @ £3 I think.I will pop down to Maplins and pick up the 1U case too.
Cheers,
Paul.
Re: D'lator BOM ?
If you don't mind ordering from germany you might go with one of those toroidals:
http://www.tube-town.net/ttstore/produc ... l-520.html
Pri: 230 V (gelb / yellow)
Sec 1: 25V @ 0,1 A (grün / green )
Sec 2: 10V @ 0,9 A (blau / blue)
Sec 3: 240 V @ 0,03 A (rot / red)
Sec 4: 6,4 V @ 1,3 A (schwarz / black)
Long leads
d = 80 mm / h = 27 mm
http://www.musikding.de/product_info.ph ... --14V.html
Primary 230V, secondary 270V @0,08A and 14V @2A.
Diameter: 78mm
Height: 32mm
http://www.tube-town.net/ttstore/produc ... reamp.html
Pri: 230 V (yellow / gelb)
Sec 1: 250 V @ 0,12 A (red / rot)
Sec 2: 6,3 V @ 3 A (green / grün)
h=40mm d=80mm
Although they are all a bit of overkill they should work. Not 100% about the maximum height that will fit into a rack enclosure though. I used the 2nd one for a D'lator. https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=10990
