FET PCB with Relay

Post by jborders5 »

I'm thinking of having a few FET PCBs made and wanted to get opinions on the best way to implement a relay to switch it in and out of the circuit using a single input jack. The relay would be located on the FET PCB.

The easiest way I can think of is to use the same DPDT relays as used on the PAB and OD/Clean selection and configure it as a true bypass switch like an effect pedal. Has anyone tired this or can think of a reason it won't work? Thanks.

Should work, TR does this on a few of their models. I have thought about something similar (but won't use a FET, there are much better options out these days).

I would take care to make sure that the FET input is grounded when bypassed as it could create a lot of noise on the V1 supply line.

Thanks. My favorite clean boost with dumble style amps is the Xotic RC pedal. It's especially useful when running the amp at lower volumes. I never alter the bass or treble (always set flat) and rarely alter the gain or volume. I may look at what's in the circuit and build something similar with a variable output in place of the standard FET.
