That's gotta be pushing two or three hundred thousand bucks worth of gear, no? Just the guitars, almost a hundred of 'em, probably averaging more than $1000 a pop, no? Insane.
ah yes, but totally tax deductible!

I wonder about that.
If musicians can call that a business expense?

I'll bet he spent more on guitar stands than I've spent on my gear.

If you a a professional or non-professional musician who declares gig and music sales as income anything you buy is tax detectable and considered an asset of your business provided you set up a business and file a tax return. They are considered tools of the trade. They also become eligible for business property tax, de or appreciation and the sale of them would be a profit (taxable) or loss (deductible). It affords pros the luxury of saying "do I want to pay the IRS or buy a deductible asset / amp etc?"

The IRS allows you to run a business for three years without showing a profit, then they come looking. As always how well things hold up in an audit is anyone's guess.

Everything I read about Joe says that he is a very savvy businessman.

Benoit,

Joe Bonamassa was doing a Yamaha acoustic guitar seminar at the music store you work at last August before the Blues Fest. Couldn't have been 20 people there. He was funny and said when he has a bad time, he goes out and buys a guitar to cheer himself up.

He was a pleasure to listen to and meet.

He seems like a nice guy by all accounts.
He has grown as a musician and not lost sight of being humble.

Imagine being a child prodigy and playing with your heroes at a young age. :D

You mean the Van Weelden? I wonder if he (van Weelden himself) has an account on this forum?

Imagine how much time it takes just to change the strings and keep them all in tune.

I brought Joe out several amps to try here at a local club in DC..When they were setting up the stage Joe needed a piano moved on his side of the stage to get his rig set up I volunteered to help Joe jumped in grabbed the piano and helped out.. So yeah no huge ego there!!.. Joe is Super nice..Glad to see he is finally getting the props he deserves..

While I respect your ability to make your own decision, It sounds like you prefer george michaels to the blues.....

I think he is rockin. There for a while I had given up on the future of the blues in the commercial racket for youngsters. Joe proved me wrong.

;-)

Just sayin...

Not the best sounding amp in the lot by far, but the blue Kustom has got to be the coolest looking one out of the bunch.
