OT: Another 80s Non HRM Skyline G1265 track (collab w/ Ika)

Post by dogears »

Hope nobody minds the clips I post here.... This one is the Bludo 80s non hrm, Skyline, high plate, Music Man tranny amp. I was running into the Glaswerks Matchbox through 200pf cables. TC G Major 2 and Suhr Minimix providing 250ms delay. I added verb in the mix. Cab was the Glaswerks 2X12 w/ G1265 speakers. Multi miced with an SM57 and a Royer R121. The SM57 was up about 8db hotter in the blend.

Amp settings were the same as in this pic ( I used the black Bludo on the right). Except input gain was up at 2 oclock. I also installed Siemans and RCA 12AX7s in the amp. Cleaned out the JJ muddiness a little.

Here is the clip. Doc Ika (member here) did the track and played the acoustic. Also the chordal swells. Great job!

Scott, just killer in all ways!! You're about the only one of these guys that post clips with all those notes that aren't on any of my guitars that I dig listening to. Glad you're back posting clips.

Of all your amps I think I enjoy the tone of this one most.

Thanks MP!!

Btw, notice the fourth lick I snuck in at 2:16? Abbreviated here, but that is the same concept as the Train Song lick you mentioned....

Also, thanks MK!!!

Very nice Scott! I listened them together with some other clips you made with the sm57/royer combi. Very consistent tone and a joy to listen to.

Thanks guys!

I was messing around this morning and did this quicky. I pulled the R121 back about 4 inches. Slight mid phasing happens, but it is a different effect. Still good I think. I suppose altering the R121 distance an inch at a time might yield a sweet spot in testing. Need to try that.....

I took the day off to play and tweak on my amp. Listening to clips like yours give me a good reference point before diving into the amp...
thanks!

Thanks!

I did this one this morning. I decided I hated yesterdays due to phase issues. I put the Royer and Shure at the same depth here.

Hey Scott, if it's not too much of a hassle could you throw up a Bludo HRM clip to compare. :)

Stranded with my laptop. So, with headphones and laptop speakers - I'm digging this in every way.
