Dumbleator II with mixer
Just thinking after the long thread on the parallel Dlator.
I added the mixer stage to the DlatorII. My thought is that the send can be split to go out to a 2 effect units, then mix them in the end.
Am I on the right track?

No, I have most of the parts, but before I start the build I'd hoped some of the better electronics guys could check out my ideas. Also the DlatorII schem has many missing values which I'll have to grab from the Dlator.Structo wrote:Have you tried it yet?

Something to consider is the quality or type of effects that you put in the loop.
I know in my case that with my Boss RV-5 reverb pedal and a EHX Stereo Memory Man, they just didn't work that well in parallel.
Probably need effects with line level outs and the ability to adjust the wet dry thing better for it to sound good.
In the end I went back the original configuration Dumbleator and it sounds pretty decent.

Hey 'Loop' Guys
I have fine tuned my build-in loop.
The design goal was
1) In serial mode - as close to the 'original' schematic as possible
2) In Parallel mode - as transperent as possible AND with same level in the circuit as when bypassed.
So this is what it looks like - enjoy
Its tested in my amp and I it works really good - for studio use as well as at gig levels.
PS: for ampgarage users only

Thanks Claus!
I'll give it a look and see if I want to try it again.
But as I said, I am probably limited by my effects more than the loop.

If you put both pedals in parallel with each other - e.g. make a couple of cables with one male jack plug and two female jacks and use a parallel loop (could be the one I've just added or a Fuchs Plush Verbrator) and your pedals will do just fine addind studio sound to your rig. You mean like a Y cable?
Split the send cable to each effect then split the output down to one plug to the return jack?

Yes, that should work just fine.Structo wrote:You mean like a Y cable?

Re: Dumbleator II with mixer
Sounds like a plan, but I wanted to use the DlatorII dual returns to adjust the effects level seperatly. I'll split the signal at the front, mix it at the rear.bluesfendermanblues wrote:Pedals don't tend to handle the higher voltages at the loop. I use nothing but line level effects, the quadraverb and the Nova delay, both of which have line level inputs.Structo wrote:Something to consider is the quality or type of effects that you put in the loop.

I thought about doing this with the Klienulator but it's just as complex as a tube device. I still may build both.
BTW. I bought a rach chassis from these guys https://www.mpja.com/ $35. I'll report on the quality when I get it.

Re: Dumbleator II with mixer
You won't need the additional tube stages.
Either make a couple of Y-cables or do it in-the-box as on the Schematic.
I think the Dumbleator II is made for a stereosystem (or a dry + wet) with two poweramps + speakers, which is nice but larger than a simple build-in loop.

Re: Dumbleator II with mixer
Thx, that looks really simple. I'm looking for 2 effects which can be adjusted independently. This is a really simple way to do it.bluesfendermanblues wrote:You won't need the additional tube stages.

I'm going to breadboard a few of these ideas and see what they sound like.

That place you linked to Bob has some good prices on a few things such as miniature toggle switches from $.45 to $.75

switches are worth what you pay for them - be very careful with soldering temps on cheap switches.Structo wrote:That place you linked to Bob has some good prices on a few things such as miniature toggle switches from $.45 to $.75
