100 Watt Skyliner HRM clip mp3

Post by Bob-I »

Edwards LP > Dumble with parallel loop D-Lator and Quadraverb > SM58 > Zoom R16

Now in mp3 format

http://www.sweettoothband.com/temp/01%20Track%201.mp3

I started on the clean channel, switched to OD then the final chorus is with PAB on.

Ignore the clams as always, but I think I'm finally happy with this amp. The PAB now has an addition .002uF switched in to fatten it up.

Hi Bob,

I'm interested in your soundclip, but can you make it a mp3 please. 80+Mb takes a long time to load.

I'd really like to, but for some reason the WAV's made with the zoom won't convert. I end up with an empty file. I've tried CDEX and MP3 converter simple. I'm open to other suggestions.

I'd like to hear it also but unfortunately I'm on dialup. It take like 4days, 30 minutes and 2 seconds to download and that's if I don't get disconnected.

I finally got an mp3 cut. I had to put it on a CD-RW, then rip it in mp3. I have no idea why CDEX didn't work.

Sounds nice!

Bob can you share how you made your parallel loop?
Tom

Don't let that smoke out!

Hmm... I did that years ago when I made it. Let me see if I can dig up the drawings, I've been through a new PC and a reload since then, I hope it was in my backup.

Cool 8)
Makes me want to build an HRM.....

Do you also have a Mid boost on this amp?
I'm asking the question because I did some simulations around the "Fat PAB" capacitor and I'm not sure how far I can trust the simulations .
According to the simulations adding a 2n capacitor from the "top" of the slope resistor to the unused pin of the PAB relay yields pretty much the same frequency response as the Mid boost.
Suppose if you have a Mid boost switch this already answers my question

Very smooth tone. Perhaps, for my taste, a little too smooth. No real bite came through on the pick attack. It was smooth to the point of almost sounding muffled to me. Don't know if it's an amp issue or a speaker issue.

I like your playing very much!
Wife: How many amps do you need?
Me: Just one more...

Pretty much. Yes I have a mid boost.

Just when I'm getting happy with the amp someone has to point out a flaw  You're right, not much ping on the attack. It's not the speaker, EVM12L but I've tried many others.

Thx

Bob, nice playing but the top end sounds compressed w/o any bloom. Although it could be the headphones I have here at work. Will listen again at home.

Maybe the simulations are OK. I was just too stupid too check the right curves.
Basically, Mid boost plus "normal" PAB should give roughly the same frequency response as the "2n FAT PAB".
Does this make sense for you soundwise?

Hi Bob,

I think it's nice sound, maybe adding a little 170ms delay and some reverb to your guitar sound can fatten things up and make it feel less with your head in the speaker sound...

First off, there's quite a bit of reverb in the loop already. I wanted to leave this as dry as possible to hear the amp itself, and I agree, delay would open it up.
