Ahhh..yes! I can see that. Thank you very much M!

I see something similar by Keystone at Mouser but is sized for a #8 screw which I am sure is way small on the larger diameter hole.

Do you have a source that you could share on those?

Again, thanks much,

Dave,

I would need to search to find that, as it was posted before. But I have this from an old post.

ground lugs

Post by sst4270 »

As I recall those lugs don't work on the PEC pots. They're too short to reach around to the back of the pot.

There were some others available at one time that are long enough but those few who have them are holding on to their very limited supply.

I had quoted (through my work) having them custom made in China a while back. I asked around through PMing at this forum at the time, but there wasn't enough interest to justify the expense. As I recall it was going to cost somewhere around $800~$900 to have a minimum batch of 10,000 made. That would have brought the cost to $0.09 a piece. Pretty cheap, but again not enough interest. I may try again if there's enough interest.

I just don't have the funds to justify that expense myself.

I made my own by using silver plated copper wire and forming it into the shape of the ground lug. Then soldering the ends closed. I posted a picture a while back. I'll have to look for the post and find it.

Good luck.

I have some of the lugs posted above. Quite a few of them actually, and a good source for a lot more. I've used these successfully in builds where the ground side of a pot was chassis grounded. Definitely makes for a clean build and if the controls are kept separate from other noise causing components (especially large return ground paths). They can also be made to reach around to the back of a pot by soldering a short and thick lead onto the back of the pot and attaching the solder lug to this.

Wow! Great memory M. I even chimed in there and don't remember it. Thanks for getting me back there.

At the time, I didn't know that the desired application was for un-solderable pots. I now see the issues.

Cliff: Can you share your source for the ones that you mentioned? I can see taking two of them, snipping off the arm of one and soldering it onto the other one to make an extension. Wasteful I agree. But...any port in a storm.

I tried the Wiki link mentioned in the older post but it was down. Did that get moved or retired?

Thanks all!

There is also a thread where Gary H. talked about attaching a crimp on lug to extend past the pot.

Thanks a ton Mark! Gary's ring terminal approach for the 31-759 looks like just the ticket.

The 31-759 appears to be WAY back-ordered at Mouser (my primary small parts supplier). Wondering if this one will suffice:

http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Amp ... ZwpQ%3d%3d

Mouser P/N: 523-31-10152RFX

Can't seem to find explicit dimensions for that puppy but have to believe that it will work due to it's similar RF heritage. Unfortunately, I have no RF experience to guide me.

Thanks again,
Dave O.

Dave it probably would be best just to ask Cliff Schecht above about where to get them since he knows a good supplier.
