Thanks for this. While I always thought that CC was a great singer and songwriter, but I never knew he was a tremendous player as well. Tone is very similar to the RF tone from the mid 80s up through the Miles Davis era, where he even used a Strat as well.

wow...I always thought he was some sort of Stephen Bishop singer/songwriter and the guitar parts were Steely Dan session guys...so it's hard to tell on the second youtube, but what's the '86 sound like...non-hrm, classic tone stack?

I knew CC played guitar because I had seen some video of him playing acoustic, but I had no idea that he was a good electric player as well.
The chorus was a bit much but he still sounded good.

Yep, that's how a Dumbleland 300SL sounds (2 even better of course!).

I really love the Dumblelands for this kind of lead tones, perhaps even a tiny bit more then some of the the singers, bit more throaty perhaps. Of course ODS's are fine amps too but a bit like toys side by side with a Dumbleland "organ". My taste of course.

He got his two 300SL's you see and hear in this clip in the early eighties. For a closer view you can look at the picture that was published in the guitar player interview. I don't have it at hand right now. Around 90 they went to Japan. No mods as far as I remember now. Pictures have been on the "treasures..." website (Yuki's, later Bill's). Maybe still there. Don't know.

Perhaps best look on both 300SL's at 2:11 or 2:12.

If you like this tone, maybe Brandon can do something for you (an original one will be hard to find and perhaps v e r y expensive).

Some of the singers he knows are not t h a t far away from a Dumbleland for guitar from what I've read between some of his lines here. And if he would need some additional infos, he will know how to write a PM.
