More relay questions

Post by dcribbs1412 »

Sorry guys
down to the OD relay in my 6V6 HRM Build
added the internal loop...voltages are good
wondering about the way to wire the OD relay (cant seem to wrap my head around it)
used this partial schem from a member
using jborders5 boards
looking at both I see
A..master
B..470K from OD circuit
C..jumper to E
D..ground
E...047-.05 cap
F..OD level
sorry to try to make it so simple
wondering how far off I am
any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks

Darin

Yes, I would think that the wire from the Com on the relay would go to the input or the .05uF cap, input of the loop.
That is the orange wire on Tony's layout that goes to the jacks.

Thanks guys
spent my lunch trying different wiring's and came to the conclusion
when it comes to wiring relays....I have Id 10 t syndrome
hard to take after wiring this complicated of a build to stall at the relays...but I'm not giving up

maybe if I post some pics someone can hold my hand and guide me thru it

Not sure if this will help.

I made this drawing when I built mine.
The top drawing is the way the Dumble relay looks.

The bottom drawing is how Jason's relay board is wired and laid out.

Of course the orange wire goes to the right terminal of the Master.
The middle terminal of the Master should go to the loop input.

Then the PAB board.

Hope this helps.

My mistake, I forgot the HRM Master is wired differently.

By the way, Tony does not show how Jason's relay board is traced.

The first two eyelets are the Common terminals.

Wiper of the Master should go to the last eyelet (normally open)

Look at the schematic.

On the HRM you have the Clean master and the OD Master

Made a little headway today
OD and Clean switching
both channels seem to have a little high fizz to it when you dig in
not in a good way...also doesn't seem as loud as before adding the loop
not easy to balance levels between clean and OD clean is much louder
any thoughts?
still tweaking

Update
definitely not as loud with the loop
one thing I noticed is I get a oscillation(buzz) when the Master is off(down)and when its dimed? Same with Volume
wondering about adding a bypass for the loop?
any suggestions are greatly appreciated

On my Bassman 70 convert, I placed a switch on the front panel to turn the loop off. This way, makes it easy to compare in/out levels.

You could always put this on a relay if you desire also.

I run a 12AT7 on the built in tube FX loop........AX7 was too much.

Having send and return level pots on back, (I use a rack FX set up)
things are adjusted to not overdrive the inputs on my FX..........so over all lower volume.

But, I mic up in use, and am mindfull of stage volume, so it works great for me.

I''ll try to figure out where to put one

I think I have one and will try it

volume not a real big issue(especially with the wife)although the clipping(fizz) is not desirable
just kinda strange how much it dropped after installing the loop
running a external dlator on my dlite and it doesn't seem to affect the volume that much... will try to implement a bypass and hear the difference

Any thoughts on the volume control buzzing in the off and dimed positions?
