50w Clean Only Low Plate Skyliner
Hi fellows,
I have completed the amp described in the subject. It sounds great and I would like to share some pics. You may ask why would I build a clean only version and the answer is...for fun....that and I had the parts and didn't want to do any more work on the chassis to make it work for od. I don't like cutting and drilling steel chassis.
I've added:
switchable mid cap .01uf, .02uf, .05uf
Bright switch 120pf & 300pf
switchable LNFB on v1b
mid boost and pab relays
Currently 150k slope... what if I drop that and keep the tonestack the same?
Voltages as of this moment are:
v1a- 204.5, 1.57
v1b- 208.7, 1.51
v2a- 301, 56.8
v2b- 291, 56.8
v3 & v4- 485 screen, 487 plate, 39ma
B+ 1- 487
2- 485
3- 421
4- 310.2

Nice looking build! You chose exactly the right size chassis. Clean only is cool too, after all the Steel String Singer is clean only too!
Bassman iron? What tubes?

Nice looking build.
What kind of resistors are those (part number) on the cathodes, and PI plates? I know Mesa uses them a lot, Vishay maybe.

Re: 50w Clean Only Low Plate Skyliner
Thanks guys.
It's a Bassman OT with 2/4/8, the PT is bassman space mount but has twin size stack and is rated higher all around.
I got a Ruby 12ax7 in v1, JJ ecc803s long plate in v2, and the power tubes are Groove Tubes 6L6GE. I didn't have any 6L6's and the Groove Tubes were the only ones I could get on Maui. I didn't want to wait to order some from the mainland so I just bought them for like $37 each! At least they are well matched.
mbeldyga is right about the resistors, vishay dale from mouser.
Sorry about the gigantic pictures.
I just got a new canon t2i for my b-day and at 18mp even when I resize them they are gargantuan. I'll look into making them smaller. It's cool to be able to post pics though.
I'm finishing the cab today and will post pics when it's done.

Here it is with the cabinets. I had the nameplate made for fun at this laser place in town. Speaker is a ceramic Weber California with paper dust cap.
