vendor concerns - OT

Post by rutledj »

A little off topic but just wondering if any of you have ordered from ampwares.com before. I placed an order for some tolex and grill cloth and have yet to hear from them. My credit card has been charged already. There is no email contact, only a phone number and I get an answering machine saying the mailbox is full.

Hope I haven't made a mistake.

A little research on the web may have saved you some grief. There is much buzz on many forums about slow shipping and no contact. FWIW I used them over a year ago with no problems. Tried again a few months back and the stuff came - but took nearly a month. I believe your stuff will arrive - just don't expect it soon or expect any communication or courtesy. I have deep sixed their bookmark in my browser since my last experience.

Unfortunately Stelligan is right. Ampwares is horrible. I had to wait a few months and he replied only once (with a lie) when I emailed him...

Ditto - you will get your stuff but you won't know when. Email inquiry goes unanswered.

That sucks!! I think he makes the cabs he sells by hand, so that may account for the slow going.

Mojo is one of the better places to get tolex.

Well, thanks for verifying my suspicions. I can't even find an email address to contact him on the website.

Guess I'll just wait.

Lesson learned.

You should have gotten an email address with the order confirmation.

Yep... It's been like that for years. You'll likely get your stuff, occassionaly it even comes in a timely manner. But if it's 'critical', go somewhere else.

Well, I'm tired of waiting on these people. I've sent several emails as well as phone calls and no response (just like you all said). I'm thinking about calling my credit card company and contesting the payment (if that is possible). It has been 3 weeks since I placed the order.

Am I being unreasonable?
