18w Stout & Plexi designs

Post by 10thTx »

Doug Hoffman carries an 18w PT & OT, Hoffman style turret board and is getting some new chassis in that can be used for an 18w or a 5E3.

I drew up 8 different amps that can use these trannies, and chassis. 5 of the 8 can use the layout board also.

There are 9 pages in the editable SCH schematic attached.

There are additional SCH editable amp designs with layouts here:

There is a thread with GIF versions of it here:

Very cool
Thanks for that

The chassis is still a couple weeks off
I'll let you know when I have a sample in my hands

I have a post here with CAD drawings of the chassis in case anyone is interested.

Very cool! Thanks!

I will definitely try one of those chassis. I'm also a Mojo dealer, and this may be just what I've been looking for :D

Looks like you did some good collaboration over at the EL34 site to come up with the design - I just love to see these amp boards work that way!

I have an ongoing demand for 18W/Spitfire style amps, and I've been experimenting with just how light I can get a tubes-up 1x12 combo down to (goal is <25 lbs.).

And once I learned the Ruby zener trick, I been lovin' me some 18 watters!

Thanks!!!

I like to call these small 12 inch chassis/heads "Lunch Box amps"

There seems to be allot of people building small footprint heads these days

That's some good information. Here's some 5E3 variations on the theme that are interesting. Not drawn by me...maybe by someone here? From PPWATT and intended for their PCB, but they're schematics.

That would be a great chassis for my 5b6 cage amp if it had octal sockets and larger PT opening for at least 50w Fender type PT. :)

It is going to have octal socket holes
I plan on using block off plates for 9 pin EL84 sockets

As for the PT, I suppose since it is .09 aluminum, it could be jig sawed larger without too much trouble

The PT opening currently is 2.625 inches x 2.5 inches which is the size a Heybour 18 watt PT is.

A Super Reverb sized OT needs a 3 inch x 2.3 inch hole

OK, I've added more schematics and drew or referenced corresponding layouts that will work with this small chassis and 18w PT & OT.

There is a total of 13 different designs:
