finished pictures JTM 45
Hi Guys,
here's my finished JTM45
Many thanks to everyone here on this forum who helped me trouble shoot what turned out to be a bad valve, and some schoolboy errors!!!
I added a metro amps buffered zero loss fx loop as a nod to the 21st C otherwise it's as Jim Marshall made it in the 60's
onwards and sideways.

It looks great! Love the box style!
Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.
Re: finished pictures JTM 45
I agree that looks great.
Re: finished pictures JTM 45
Looks really good. I would love to see the insides
Where did you get this white-ish tolex?

Re: finished pictures JTM 45
Faceplate came from here;
http://modulusamplification.com/
Knobs..... got into a bit of a dispute about these. They're from
http://ex-en.alliedelec.com/
When ordering though there was no indication at all what the postage was going to be until they'd charged and sent them.
They charged me $50 postage on $24 worth of knobs to the UK so foreign buyers beware.
Chris Uff doesn't have a web site just contact him direct

Re: finished pictures JTM 45
Super cool. Thanks. A couple of questions, if you don't mind:
1) Did you get the chassis from the same place as the faceplates, and if so, what's your take on the quality of both the chassis and faceplate?
2) Are those the new "NextGen" Sozo caps? If so, what's your take on those?
Thanks!

Re: finished pictures JTM 45
yes I did get the chassis from modulus amps.
this was my first real build so I've not much to compare with.
The chassis seems fine to me, I had to adjust a few holes for the output transformer and choke but it's very sturdy. The front panel is plastic but fairly robust and looks great in the cab, all the holes lined up nicely so no issues there.
yes they're the new Sozo caps, but yet again I've nothing to compare them to
The amp sounds great, the treble channel is plenty bright enough and does a nice twangy single coil thing. The normal channel on the high gain input is just rocktastic. Its big and full and starts breaking up at around 4 or 5 and then you're into full overdrive with humbuckers, no need for a pedal.
linking the channels lets you blend nicely, it is fairly loud in the studio but on a gig with a drummer it's probably not as loud as I think.
I built a little airbrake/powersoak box from an L pad attenuator and sticking that between amp and speaker means I can dime the amp and keep the level reasonable in the studio.
hope that helps.

Re: finished pictures JTM 45
Very nice. Thanks. I do like their stuff, so I'm tempted to order some from them even though I wager shipping would be spendy.
One last question: Does the faceplate hang past the ends of the chassis front? I was checking the dimensions and looking at your pictures and something wasn't adding up.
Thanks!

The face plates are exactly the same length to the end of the lip for the mounting bolts, so it's slightly longer than the actual 'internal' chassis, if you see what I mean.
The cabinet is the smaller 23 inch size not the larger standard cab that sits on a 4x12 exactly, hence it looks perfect on the smaller 4x10.
I would have thought you guys over your side of the pond would be spoilt for choice regarding chassis etc. Have you had a look at Metro amps, that's all they do, Marshall stuff. George seems to be well respected in this field and his kits and parts seems first class.
Cheers
Marcus
Re: finished pictures JTM 45
Thanks man.
Yeah, there's no shortage of options over here....but there's something about yours that I just like better. I'd cut the faceplate to not extend past the "internal" chassis, and I'd like to have both fuses externally accessible, but other than that, it's exactly what I'm looking for. I'll see what the international shipping costs will be (yikes!) from that company.
