Ken Fischer Modded 72 Marshall
I found this amp for sale for $15k and thought I would post some guy pics. What do you think was done to this to "trainwreck" it? I have a plexi I was looking at modding. Any input on the mods?

Re: Ken Fischer Modded 72 Marshall
from Dave "Snake" Sabo of Skid Row fame. He is personal friends with Ken Fischer, as they lived close by each other in New Jersey. Ken modified this amplifier in 1986-87 by adding a master volume in place of the lower right input and, for lack of a better term, "Trainwrecked" it. It sounds just like the Trainwreck amplifiers he went on to build, and he signed the inside of the chassis stating it was the last Marshall modification he would do. Dave Sabo toured with this amp with Skid Row for a time, and it has a "Slave to the Grind" Skid Row CREW Sticker on the inside of the chassis.

Re: Ken Fischer Modded 72 Marshall
Nice, thanks for this.
What I see is:
- PPIMV from 'Trainwreck Pages'
- Orange Drop coupling cap of unknow value in Treble Channel - I think 2n2 is stock value in later Marshall SL's, 22nF in SL's up to early 68
- Changed Rk in V1 (shared) cathode - I see grey and red bands... could it be 820R? stock value of early SL's - I may be wrong but later ones had 2k7
- bypass cap on mixers doesn't look stock too
- I don't know what is that part taped together with cathode bypass cap...
EDIT: oh, and the PI coupling caps are changed too. I think it's 100nF right now, and was (should be) 22nF before

I think the taped part is an output jack where the PPIMV is now?

Re: Ken Fischer Modded 72 Marshall
that thing looks like a couple people have been inside. Some stuff looks pretty clean and some looks like my kid did it..........
Re: Ken Fischer Modded 72 Marshall
Yep, shitty job done... And nothing ground breaking as far as I see
EDIT: I may be wrong, but it looks like V2 cathode bypass cap was added too
EDIT 2: Look at that funny presence cap value - 680nF?

Marshall went to .68 presence cap months after than that amp was built. The couplers are easy to spot, and the fat cap over V2a.
I was on tour with that amp but I don't remember anyone using master volumes.
