Hi all! I've built a few amps before however I always used transformers meant for the amps I was building.
I bought a Dual Rectifier PT and a Rocket 44 OT very cheap a while ago and I am now thinking what could I build with them. I don't have any blackface amp yet and I was thinking if I could use these. What would you guys recommend?

I am building an amp with a blackface tone stack right now but it goes into a tweed deluxe power section. I love the sag from the tweed deluxe power section! Its on my thread in this section titled "My next build a CJ11 style amp" .A lot of the dumble style amps also have a fender style tone stack not sure if they are blackface though . I am sure many others will jump in with great ideas and more experience than me!

You have got yourself between a rock and a hard place with those transformers!
The power transformer is designed with enough current output for a 100 watt amp , but your output transformer can't live at anywhere near that input power level!
A 40 watt amp thru let's say 2-12" speakers is plenty loud for 95% of most players, so if it where me I would sell the PT and get something like a replacement PT for a Fender Super reverb if you want rectifier tube sag, or for more clean head room a PT for a blackface Band Master and then do one of those two builds.

@stevem that was kind of what I was afraid I would have to do. It also crossed my mind doing the opposite (sell the OT and get an 100watt one) and build a Twin Reverb, but it's crazy loud. I also built a 50watt SSS so not sure I need another very clean amp. I guess I'll put the PT on ebay then and see how much I can get for it.
