Thanks Martin for checking me. Yeah I only had to ponder that for about 2 min before I realized that was the case. Well the customer has a weight limit on the amp and brought me some Lil Texas neo speakers to put in the amp. I found it was to dark with some of the "vintage" stuff I had put in there including the treble pot. So I replaced a couple components and the pot and it sounds pretty darn good. Done!

Cool. It is entirely possible that the resistive element in those old pots has some nonlinearity about it, like carbon comp resistors do. I'm still open minded about that.
