Don't stay in the background. The biggest part of learning is throwing stuff against the wall and seeing what sticks. Speaking of throwing stuff at the wall, I've had a loose pin on a power tube socket give me rattly fuzz. Drain the caps first then tension, and buy the $3.95 sockets not the $2.95 ones
