Well, normally, I would oblige, but not with the problems that still exist in the amp. But if/when I get it all sorted out, I'll record and post something.

sliberty wrote:The bass channel of a 6G6 is a rock monster. Turn it up, and it gets VERY aggressive. Enters into Marshall territory rather than just a little edgy overdrive like most Fenders. Really cool, if you like that sort of thing (which I do).
I had two 6g6bs on my bench that sounded rougly the same. Then I modded one of the bass channels into a k50 preamp, and there is no contest - the k50 wins

Could the Normal channel Preamp section be built just itself as just that?
a large tube driven pedal?

sorry if that was a poor question.
Was just a thought that had popped in my head.
Came across the tech21 blonde and thought it would be cool if it was actually a tube driven fender tone stack pedal.

Not a poor question, I just didn't have a good answer.

There are tube preamps from Marshall, Mesa, etc, so I am sure that thee is a way to do it. Not sure about making it a pedal, but maybe that is not a major part of your idea. For it to sound right, it would have to have high voltages similar to those in the complete amp, so making a pedal like that isn't straightforward.

I love my Tech 21 pedal - I have the Liverpool and the Hot Rod Plexi. They can be really cool when used properly. But they will never replace my tube amps.

For sure, the intent was more to just have like a plug and play pre amp.
Put in front of a another tube amp, or into a rack situation (If need be).
