Stimulus Plan???

Post by Voodoo_Man »

Old girlfriend sent me this. I found it funny, but partly true.

Subject: Stimulus Plan
This year, taxpayers will receive an Economic Stimulus Payment This is a very exciting new program that I will explain using the Q and A format:

"Q. What is an Economic Stimulus Payment? "
A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.

"Q. Where will the government get this money? "
A. From taxpayers.

"Q. So the government is giving me back my own money? "
A. Only a smidgen.

"Q. What is the purpose of this payment? "
A. The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

"Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China? "
A. Shut up."

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the US economy by spending your stimulus check wisely:

If you spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China.

If you spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs.

If you purchase a computer it will go to India.

If you purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala (unless you buy organic).

If you buy a car it will go to Japan.

If you purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan.

And none of it will help the American economy.

We need to keep that money here in America. You can keep the money in America by spending it at yard sales, going to a baseball game, or spend it on prostitutes, beer (domestic ONLY), or tattoos, since those are the only businesses still in the US.

God Bless,
John

Actually Coors is owned by the Canadians, Miller is owned by the South Africans, and I believe, Anheuser Busch is, or will soon be, owned by the Belgians. Pabst is one of the few American brewers still owned by Americans. There are numerous Micro-Breweries that are American.

My "local" favorites are Deschutes brewery in Bend Or., Big Sky Brewery in Missoula Montana, and I still have a weakness for Guiness and Jameson Irish whisky, even though they aren't American.

I say brew your own. I would think that since folks here routinely "homebrew" amps, there are probably some real homebrewers as well.

Look at it this way. Even if the economy sucks, you can drink a cup of cheer that you created yourself, while playing the amp you built yourself!

I've been an avid homebrewer for about 20 years now. It's true that you can brew cheaper than you can buy even after the initial investment in equipment. The most expense part of my system is the $200 kegging system that I bought. Makes for a faster and easier method than bottling.

I have drank many a homebrew while homebrewing beer and amps

I didn't mean to hijack the thread, I thought the original post was really funny, and sad at the same time. Everything is replaceable in this "throw away" generation. Nobody thinks about repairing stuff anymore. If it doesn't work, go get a new one. Heck, it's imported from a country where the 9 year old kid who built it got paid 25 cents an hour, why not get two, they're cheap. I think that is why building my own musical gear, and brewing my own beer appeals to me.

I at one point had about a half dozen 5 gallon soda pop kegs filled with different types of homebrew at all times. I found that my beer drinking was cheap, but replacing all of my pants because they no longer fit was starting to get expensive. That's when I cut way back on the brewing. I still enjoy it though, even if it is on a smaller scale. :P

My X-Father-in-law got me started homebrewing back in the 70's (hillbilly style). Two 5 gallon water bottles and canned malt from Vons Market. I latter refined it with ingredients from a Brewers Supply. Had to give it up because of an allergy I developed.......................whernever I would drink I would break out in handcuffs. :)

After seeing all the pork in the stimulus package I would rather that they give every man and woman in the country $300,000.
That would stimulate the economy and allow people to pay of debt and stay in their homes.
But that won't pay for a $5 million dog park in Maine. (hypothetical)

I recently chuckled (in that 'uhoh, here comes the end' chuckle) when I heard that groups of rich asians are coming to the US to buy distressed property. (read: overbuilt real estate)

So, the South Americans walk here to do the jobs Americans don't want to do, and then the Asians come here to buy the property we can't afford!

There is too much irony.. the largest of all being that the illegal influx subsidized the housing bubble... omg I need a strong helmet to contain my head..

Even worse is that they are not giving the public a chance to view the package or time to voice their opinions on the crap that they are stuffing in here. Two Billion to ACORN? No organization needs this kind of money given to them at this time. We need to stimulate the economy and that won't do it.

In someones speech they said that a $600 stimulus rebate is nice but it's a one time deal then it's gone. They want tax breaks that will be on going. Well that tax break equals about $13 a week which is $676 a year. What's the difference except that people could do more with it in a lump sum.

I was for letting the shit collapse and let the government do nothing. Only because with government involvement it's only going to be worse. If the people responsible would be prosecuted others would step in and things would return to normal eventually. Instead the government throws money at them and they all get their multi-million dollar bonuses.

It's over. America is over. If we don't walk to Washoington, go on a general strike, and refuse taxes.. well.

We've been enslaved by a machine that only destroys.

Yes there was supposed to be a 48 hour window so the bill could be read but nobody read it or if they did it was only to make sure their earmarks were included.

$2 Billion to ACORN?

The same org that was suspected of voters fraud.....

When are we the sheeple going to say enough is enough!:x

As Thomas Jefferson said it best:

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.

Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.
