Real Music Stores in Vancouver BC Canada area

I'm spending a lot of time in Vancouver on business these days, including quite a few weekends. I want to buy a guitar and a small old single ended amp suitable for apartment use, and learn how to play a little swampy slide.

Any of you from that area out there who could recommend a "real" music store (i.e not Tom Lee Music or Long & McQuade or the usual suburban stores that only carry off brands), where I might find such gear.

So far I've identified two possible candidates:

Not Just Another Guitar Shop at Granville & 7th in Vancouver

Dave's Roadhouse Music in Chilliwack.
