low-profile 1/4" plugs

These look pretty awesome:

But ain't no way I'm going to pay ~$7 per plug.

Cheaper alternatives?

How bout these? Old school pancake plugs

I've never understood the obsession with solderless plugs that are much less reliable and much more expensive than soldered. The amount of space you save on a board vs pancake plugs is trivial.

Yeah I tried the George L cables years ago and had trouble with them.

Even though those old pancake plugs don't look as cool as newer plugs, they are a great space saving plug for jumpers between pedals.
Never had a soldered plug act up unless it was damaged.

Don't let that smoke out!
