$#ity cell phones
For all they charge you when you get it at the store, you'd think it would last forever. We know they won't but the problem I had today really takes the cake. This is the second time in about a week.
My cell phone IS my office phone. I'm self employed and don't need to pay for a land line, too. When I'm in the office at my desk I almost always use a plug-in headset for the convenience of it and for the sound quality.
So, today my daughter calls me while I'm out and about and I can't hear anything without putting it on speaker. Again stuck in headphone mode! The first time, I fixed it by running the plug in and out a few times and the leaf spring reset itself. This time, no such luck. I do my due diligence, reading various unreliable things on the internet. (Some suggestions were bizarre, like WD-40 and powdered graphite. I know better.) One suggestion was a software problem, so I bit the bullet on a software reset, which did nothing but force me to d/l some apps that went away and fix all the tones and whatnot -- not such a big deal.
In the end, I sprayed some Caig D-5, and that didn't work. Then I stuck a plastic coated paper clip inside and heard a click. Of course, I knew immediately, I'd fixed it. But gimme a break. That jack should not have failed. The phone isn't a year old.
End of rant.

a little ramble to your rant. i got a stereo bluetooth headset. its great, no wire makes you feel like an astronaut. you can even play music through them in the background of a phone call! *note this is too much going on for me and i know i cant handle it.
i think ive had it two months and charged it four times. just turn it off when im not using it. magical, really, people cant tell the difference
what did i pay, somewhere at the $20 mark. ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/281278332577?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT

THANK YOU!!! o h m y g o d, i had a garbage networking class with a teacher who would go on and on and on about the superiority of apple and how windows was .... snore, i know this guy owns stock in apple and is trying to convert as many people as he can so his stock can go up. in fact, i know a few of 'these' peoplematt h wrote:I also avoid the snot out of all apple products. Just sayin'.

I've got a nice bluetooth. Great sound quality. It isn't nearly as comfortable as the wired. And it needs to be charged. Old fart factor in play.
No. It's not an Apple. If it was an Apple, I could depend on a Genius to help me!

Re: $#ity cell phones
As long as we're ranting - I think phones will be the downfall of society. I hate 'em. But, can't live without them.
In my line of work, I just need a rugged phone that makes and receives phone calls. That's all. Turns out you can't get a phone like that any more. Ugh.

Don't you boys know any NICE songs?
Re: $#ity cell phones
I like my MAC laptop. I just switched from a Samsung Galaxy to an Iphone 5 about a month ago. This is a terrible phone!
The service is spotty at best. I have had several people call me back on my office phone because of all the static on my cell. My info doesn't always get sent with calls or texts so sometimes I don't get responses. My voice mails have been coming in two days late. For some reason it takes forever to send a text and sometimes it just won't send them. And the internet service is nowhere near as strong or stable as it was on the Galaxy. I hate this thing. As soon as I get a free minute I'm "downgrading" to something that works.

I hate my S4.
I hate TMobile. Since they changed networks and hump ATTs leg now the service is terrible. It's so bad that the FB app asked me if I could drive it to a pay phone and asked if I had a postage stamp.
I hear you. The failure for me was the service and the phone. Odd. That's everything.

FYI, standard Bluetooth is a big power hog. The changeover to Bluetooth LE is an BIG improvement. I have been working on BLE radios at my company. It's actually good technology.
Yes, Apple sucks. Smartphones are a ripoff. I'm using an old flip phone. The phone is good, the service sucks. Dropped calls are frequent. The population is so effing desperate to have a phone in their pocket that shit service and performance has been accepted. It's a travesty, but it's too late now. That ship has sailed.

Agreed, and throw in the degradation of photography (digital) and music (mp3) also.... but they cater to the "gotta have it now" crowd.vibratoking wrote:Yes, Apple sucks. Re: $#ity cell phones
I still shoot with film. Ever tried to buy film or get it developed lately? Wow.
Re: $#ity cell phones
Those old flip phones double as birth control also!
I use a galaxy S4, my fiance has the S5 and with Verizon we get great service. Her daughter has a eyephone and it sux. But you know those hipster apple disciples, even confronted with direct evidence she still bends over for Apple. I should get her a flip phone. Soon I'll need a jitterbug!

I phone with an IPHONE 4s. I've never used a Galaxy or Samsung so I can't really compare.
I use Bluetooth on a Plantronics stereo do-hicky. It works for my tired ears. I work by myself with my hands, so it is nice to be listening to Pandora or Intune Radio when the calls come in I mash the left ear button to tell Dah-veed (David with a Pakistani accent) that I don't have a computer so I don't need a web address and besides spiders live in webs and I hate spiders. They have no answer on their sheet for that so they hang up.

I bought a pair of shoes from a drug dealer the other day. I dunno what he laced them with but I’ve been tripping all day,
Re: $#ity cell phones
The guy who calls me says his name is John! It's a real hoot. Last time John called, I managed to keep him on the phone for about 5 minutes without giving him anything. Finally, he told me I could stick my phone up my ass. Really, I was shocked at the language.LeeMo wrote:...it is nice to be listening to Pandora or Intune Radio when the calls come in I mash the left ear button to tell Dah-veed (David with a Pakistani accent)
