I don't mix speakers

I don't mix speakers.

-deleted 90 minute rant-

So, in closing, I don't mix speakers.

I don't blame you. Me neither. Experience teaches.

Heck, I won't even mix different brands of air fresheners. Experience teaches. Yuck!

I do. Mix loudspeakers.
I don't mix. Invited speakers.

Welllll, it all depends.. Recently rebuilt a super reverb & the bill was getting big enough already. No budget to put in all new speakers BUT the Heinz 57 variety in the cab gave it a unique 3 dimensional sound, when I listened on-axis, right in front of the amp. Plus the owner has a "choice of colors" miking it up for recording or PA. However, most of the time I don't recommend mixed speakers, just mixed drinks. And mixes coming out of speakers. Mix, stir, enjoy! ;)

Hey VV, you got a concert coming to town, Procol Harum with orchestra Oct. 6. I know where I would be if I was in Goteburg! :D

Yes, got the ticket already. I might miss Robin Trower though...

I mix 'em too. If you think about it, it's the same as having a 2x12 cab and a 1x15 cab on the same head (except you can move' em around).

Been working on a 24W Princeton with two different 10s. Gonna make it so you can switch off two tubes and one of the speakers.

I guess that's different from mixing them in a 4x12 (which I assume Miles was ranting about before he didn't post it.)

Mixing speakers only sounds good when your amp uses a tube rectifier.
Honest. Really.

Nope! There is a good speaker and another one. :P But yes also....

In a mix. I am a one amp/one mic sort of peep.

If you use a tube rectifier you are also crazy...

And :P again.

I never mix business and pleasure. Also never mix match my speakers! It just sounds off phase.

99% of speaker mixing experiments have failed for me too...instead of adding to each other, different models just seem to "phase out" freq's.
First 25 years of playing, I never got along with EL84's...Now I think, WHAT THE HELL WAS WRONG WITH ME????
