Impermanence

Post by LeftyStrat »

I just had my mother tell me the other day her goal was to die before me.

There's an old story where a family asked a Buddhist Monk to bless their family, and he said, "Grandfather dies, Father dies, Son dies." They were offended, and he said, "Any other order would not be a blessing."

I have met so many great souls that are no longer here, and more souls that I've never met that still inspire me.

Passfan's brother's situation hits me pretty hard.

Not sure I'm anything more than what I've given to others.

Ignore this post, I've probably had too much to drink.
It's never too late to have a happy childhood.

At the end of the day, all we really have to offer is ourselves. Sober here tonight, though the misses and I did consider a bottle of wine. :-)

What I live by. I never was very smart in the social realm. But I have a woman that loves me despite my social inadequacies. I might have kids that have found a way to be more than me.

I'm probably worse off than you when it comes to social skills. I've never been able to make small talk, and at 54, I don't see that changing. Now if you want to talk about music or electronics, I'll likely talk yer ear off. I too, have a wonderfull woman who loves the sh!t out of me. What I've done to deserve her is a common topic of discussion I have with myself. Certainly, I am blessed. I have three step kids with her and the youngest, who came into my life when he was four (and is now 19) is very comfortable with people. A few of my better traits seem to have seeped into his subconscience, but fortunately, he didn't wind up with my social awkwardness or my fat gene...
