Estate sale score

Post by Smokebreak »

Went to a sale this morning for "electrical engineer meets Home Ec teacher",
and found the stash of tubes. I haggled to $25 for a bucket of 15. 5Y3's, 5U4GB's, JAN tungsol and sylvania 12a_7s,OA2, amongst others. Who knows what shape they are in but one was actually labeled "weak" with readings on it, so I'm hoping the rest are fine, as the gentlemen owned a tube tester that was for sale as well.
I also got 4 greenlee punches 5/8, 3/4, 1, 1 1/8" for $1.50 each. Got a few sprague NOS .039(?) caps and a .1. Who knows about those. I'm gonna post some pictures once I get organized as I'll need you guys help with the history and value of some of this stuff.
The bummer was that the belle of the ball, a beautiful old tube radio, with matching ornate external speaker, got snatched up as I walked in the door :(

Nice score I love sales like that.

I got a call from my brother-in-law last year about a sale with guitars so I headed straight there with check book and cash. Picked up four stringed instruments but the amps were all gone.

The Spragues should be fine, or at least I use old ones :)

Nice!
Looks like the deal of the century (hell...millennia!) on those punches if they are in decent shape.
Congrats!

Punches are immaculate! Instructions, cool original boxes(50s?), and 5/8" is even hands scripted "7 pin sockets". Dude took really good care of his stuff. He had more tools than I've ever seen in one garage. Goin back on 1/2 price Sunday

Indeed! And yeah, SPI's only a little over an hour away and probably the best point about living down here. My sanctuary.
