Does anything else need saying?
This photo is from 1980-1981. Notice Lifeson's pair of HiWatts. He was running a pair of Marshall 4140 100W combos as well (just off to the left). Double necks for rocking Xanadu live. Emaj to F#add11 on a twelve string double neck with a chorus into 200W of Hiwatt at stage volume. Time to change your pants...

Woooo! Ehh.
Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.
Re: /2ush
Man, Alex's old hollowbody sounded sooooo good. I still love Rush, but I prefer tones of old.
I really dig this clip. RAAAAAAWWWWWWWWW!

Awesome!
Saw them a couple years ago for the Time Machine tour.
It was my son's first concert as well.
Aside from Geddy's voice they have not slipped at all, in fact better than ever.
Alex brought out a Gibby hollowbody but I can't say for sure which one it was.
I'm not sold on whether it matters what amps he uses though, as he goes through so many effects.
The "raw" tone for the early material was just fine to my ear.
I believe he was using H&K Coreblade and TriAmps.

Love Rush but I am with Blackburn. I love the old stuff. I saw them for the first time in 1981 during the "Exit Stage Left" tour. Saw the signals show twice at Radio City and caught them last year at PNC Bank Arts on the Clockwerk Tour.

I saw them in Spokane during the Hemispheres tour (early 80's?). I'm a big fan, but honestly still prefer the very early stuff from the first four albums. Workin' Man still lives as one of the most incredible pieces of guitar work ever.
Don't you boys know any NICE songs?
Re: /2ush
I grew up on a heavy diet of Rush and they were the first real concert I went to, though I haven't really listened to them in decades. If I hadn't just bought a house I would have definitely seen the Time Machine tour.
Alex's tones from "A Farewell to Kings" through "Moving Pictures" hold up really well for me. Especially when he played Hiwatts -- that dry-ish chimey but grindy thing.

What, that you didn't get inducted?Blackburn wrote:Well, Rush is now in the Rock N Roll Hall or Fame. Anyone else see the full show? My woman was the reason I didn't. I was soooo close! Then we had to leave...
Or didn't see it?
Must see, it was a riot IMO.
It's on YT somewhere.
