Though Reel will call it sloppy.

No I won't. I can only talk about Jimi in reference to not talking about Jimi here.... but if it ain't the Experience, it's not the experience.

I just think it is one of those things that Robin Trower, SRV, Frank Marino, or John Douche Bag couldn't copy. And unlike amazing worked-out, planned, and practiced solos, this is totally improvised.

It's like Picasso pissing on a napkin.

I like it cause it's real, but not tarded. It's certainly not the most inspired thing you ever heard from Jimi, but it's got his unmistakable feel.

Picasso wished he could piss on napkin with that well.

I love the true older marshalls that have that "only when turned to 10" sound.Things dont always happen until you unleash a lot of power. He had a incredible way of playing lots of speakers and full power and turning it into beautiful music.Love it!!!!

Good stuff real emotion driving that. The guy is just amazing that way. Wonder where it would have gone if he had lived to be old farts like most of us.

I consider myself a "Hendrixologist" and this one is way up there on my list.
Part of what this recording does for me is the production/effects Kramer used.
Like Hendrix he was always pushing toward the edge.

It's that push or reaching that might be seen as sloppy at times, most of the time it works.

A trilogy of Hendrix instrumentals might also include VillaNova Junction:

The Woodstock version is a bit rough, but shines for the most part.

I agree, Kramer was the perfect match for Hendrix.

This instrumental kicks all kinds of ass. I do this one for a minute when clients come over to hear some Jimi. At one point (30 plus years ago) I had most of this down pretty close when I was in my "Jimi" phase...

One of those Jimi autobiographies that are out says this was actually a carefully thought out and rehearsed tune in the studio, and not an improvisation. I can't say either way...I just know it's very cool.

Interesting.

If you happen to remember which book that is, let me know. The ones I have read don't go into much detail about individual sessions. I wish Kramer would do one about each session and what amps he used. Of course, it was the sixties, and no one is supposed to remember anything from the sixties. :D

Isn't this one similar? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B36COXYrFr0

Hendrix has been my main inspiration since the 60s. The man understood how to play an electric guitar like, well certainly no one before and there are a few that come close since (yeah, yeah, different styles, etc) but none quite there.

Jimi Hendrix - the man who played electricity.

It's like opening a great Christmas gift every time I hear something from Jimi I've never heard before - thanks!
Don't you boys know any NICE songs?
