Major surprise!

Post by Reeltarded »

Had this amp since 1989 but never opened it until the other day.

Always perplexed by three holes in the metal back plate without holes through the chassis. Is a mid-ish 69 serial.. with yellow boards. :P

Umm.. back panel changed. No holes in chassis. Man you never know!

Nice!
Bet that thing Roars!
Great fun to wheel one of these into a small club and watch the soundman go pale.
Then they start telling you "you're going to have to turn that thing down man!"....................and you haven't even plugged it in yet.

I used three at a time. It sounds a little bit like what you'd imagine the Sun would sound like from maybe 100 yards or so.

This one came from a pawn shop with 6550s. It never had the lowend the other ones did. I don't have another one with chicklets or these output couplers. Usually similar darker Eries. I think this amp is actually a '72.

I broke a chicklet trying to snag the 500p pancake. Oops. :)

I've got a '72 50 watt 1987, but it doesn't have the chicklets or those odd grey caps. Still loud enough to shave your cat. Can't imagine what three of those monsters must have sounded like! Oh wait, yes I can:

I gigged with a Sunn Model T (Marshall Major wannabe amp) for many years. Do you think that's why I complain about people mumbling all the time and I tend to say, "What?" a lot?
