Stink Bugs Suck

The bastards are trying to live in my amps,Pulled my metri plexie out to clean up some things and found four down in the guts.Worst of all I broke a good NOS el34,They were a 100 doller matched set.What do you do with the other tube now?I dont know if the west coast has these bgss but they ruined my day yesterday.Is it posible to send your tube somewhere and have them get a decent match for the wrecked one,Thanx Mikey

Well two tubes can go into the Express and the single into a DLM, then order a new NOS set.

Yo Mark,It was a 50 watt build only 2 power tubes,The were for the express but I liked the 6V6"s.So I took there two seimmens and put them in the plexie.It sounded great,I needed to resolder a couple spots and the spring tenstion thinges broke the tube.I got no more sneeky money to get another set,I dont want my wife to see another 100 bucks on the card.So could I send the tube to tube place and maybe get a decent match for the dead soilder,or Do I just throw him in the dusty tube pile,Your Call,Mikey
Unless anybody recomends a new set that are as good as the NOS"s
The only thing is I think my ears are trained to thing NOS is best.

Well I put the chassis on the cradle and wanted to resolder the Vol.Pulled one out than another.Just Thought it was weird there seem to be less this year,My amps are lined up close to the windows and I guess they get in and get a nice warm spot.They didnt actually break the tube I did with the spring retainer.Just sucks those tubes made that amp shine.O Well maybey I can find a close matched single,Or bite the bullet and get another set,Any suggestion where to get some NOS cheap or do you reccomend any production el 34 being made today thanx Mikey

For real though what is a stink bug? They get in amps? I bet they can't chew through suede. Haha

No,They look like little shell tanks,When you smash them they stinK,They can fly.When weather gets chilly they beline for the house.I was surprized they could get inside the chassis.They were brought over by some bad ass Asians I think.The basters suck.One day I found 50 on my curtins by an AC window unit.My girls are always screaming" DAD HELP, GROSS".Oh Well I dont think they our out west yet but you might have them Taylor.I dont know?

Haha how dare you say I might have stink bugs!

When we lived in the city we had these "house centipedes" that used to appear when it got wet. They are nasty! They are like 2 inches long and fast as hell. They only eat live prey so you can't poison them, you have to kill them when you see them. They use to crawl up through the drain and hide in the shower ready to scare the sh*t out of my wife.

Be thankful you don't have those in your amp.

We had stink bugs in Washington State - they smelled like almonds when you handle them - we called them "almond stink bugs".

Here in New Mexico we have the centipedes - they are extremely creepy, with many sharp hook-like legs and a big pair of pinchers at the tail. They also try coming into the house in the fall, and they really freak me out! I understand that if you get one on you, they sink every one of those hook legs into your skin and you can't get them off. I think they are also slightly poisonous.

I am always worried I will step on one with bare feet going to the bathroom in the dark in the middle of the night. <shudder>

They freaked me out too. They have too many legs. And yes, they definitely bite.

Mikey now is the time to start using dual bias pots so that you can run mismatched power tubes like in your situation.

Besides after a while those tubes don't read the same anyway.

Go with a bias circuit for each tube, even on your 100w amps.

Heck I live in Florida. I've got every kind of bug you can think of plus the critters. My neighbor had to beat a moccasin to death the other day as it wouldn't stop trying to get into his back porch. Two dobermans going nuts and his wife screaming bloody murder and the snake still wanted in. Mosquitos are toting children off this year. Count your blessings
