Can anyone identify these speakers?
They are for sale cheap, in what I believe is a Laney quad box, the "tubefusion" series. Are they garbage, or something worthwhile?

Re: Can anyone identify these speakers?
Looks like cheap speakers mounted on a particle board baffle board wired with cheap wire. Nothing about that pic spells quality. The speakers have some puny magnets and the baskets look stamped. I'd probably pass unless the deal is amazing.

I'd Pass unless it was stupidly cheap ~ Free.... and I was dying for a cab I could spill beer on.

Actually, the baffle looks like ply to me. The wiring is similar to Marshall. It is hard to tell about the speakers. You need better closeups of the numbers and labels . If those magnets are ceramic they are on the small side. Stamped frames, same as celestions. I would give it a listen and if it is cheap enough go for it.
Some older Laneys used Goodman speakers and are quite decent. Fanes are good too. They used another brand H & H which are not as highly regarded.

Looks like a budge chinese speaker by celestion. Some people actually like em well enough, not as much bottom end. But CHEAP.selloutrr wrote:TFX412A & TFX412S Cabinets

Take a look at the Celestion Rocket 50
it's 12" 8ohm 50 watt tiny magnet Made in china ~$55
It looks to be the same speaker.

Those spikes above 7K are not good.
Re: Can anyone identify these speakers?
Thanks for the replies guys, I'll give it a miss then. Its not a Celestion Rocket 50, appears to be even cheaper, the mounting of the speaker terminals is the giveaway I think, it looks like a very cheap Chinese speaker terminal mount, like what you would find on a car speaker. I did not notice this before, if I had, I would not have posted in the first place. Due to the unusual frames and magnets and the fact the box was from BLT Industries UK (therefore 10+ years old), I thought it was possible there might be something nice/unusual in there. Oh well...
On another direction I found an interesting Australian manufacturer "Lorantz" that continued on with the old Plessey Rola (related to Rola Celestion?) tooling and he still manufactures guitar speakers today, 30 watters with paper voice coils like in the old days, 50 and 70 watts with kapton coils. If anyone is interested for the history and story:
