Boycot Arizona
some one has to say it .... move, leave, don't spend a dime in the state.
There are much better ways to implement a national policy than to allow a state to dehumanize
it's law enforcement personnel to the point where the world has no choice but to profile them as racist scum.

Maracopa county scares the piss out of me. I'm not a fan of pink undies or a tent city knock on wood I never find out first hand. I do seem to set off those damn camera traps though.
The cops certainly do come out in numbers and shoot first and not very often where they are aiming.
The few years I spent in Tempe it seemed Like almost weekly the cops were doing something shadey.
It's the good old boy sheriff wild west mentality. Small feet big boots little dick big gun.
Just remember the whole us is gone to shit az is just proud of it.
My car insurance was more then my car payment each month due to uninsured motorist and thieft. Seriously the cops might need to get better at doing there job in small groups so they can cover more ground
.
Not sure about the dehumanizing but sheriff Joe is proud that they spend more of the food for the stray dogs in the shelter per meal then the convicts . I kinda of see both sides though it sucks they are fucked but they fucked up to get in there so really it's not new news and they made there choice. It won't be long before our debt will cause us to get creative and our love for reality television has proved our lust for drama.
Death row on pay per view? All subscriptions go to paying off the debt,
three strikes and death. If the prisons are
full it's just a matter of time until they have to thin the herd or release the untrustworthy. All it will take is someone crying " what about the children" and the slaughter will begin some for better some for worse.

Some truly gruesome...hideous crime acts are being carried out by notorious "drug lords" flitting back and forth across the border.
Many involving innocents to maximize the fear factor.
I have no direct experience with Maricopa County law enforcement but the Feds have failed to protect Arizona residents in this international deluge of problems.
Lived in Phoenix and Scottsdale back in the mid 80's.
Best to stay north of Thomas...and east of Grand Ave.
If the billboards are no longer in English, turn around!

Luckily, Maine doesn't have the problems with Canadians that Arizona has with it's "Immigrants". What don't you like about them Andy?

Re: Boycot Arizona
its the ones from Massachusetts and New york that cause all the issues here
The issues are all the same no matter where your at. It s the reactionary
approach that gets you into trouble.
immigration sets up mandatory road blocks here too and demands ID.
And now we need a passport just to go up the road and back. foolish....
There's no jobs here, except walmart, and who can afford to work there?
If one states policy is allowed to dictate the nation's response towards this
especially in that manner, it diminishes the entire country.
jack booted thugs demanding ID, then to a holding facility until processing,
is not a new solution.
My grandfather went to war in Europe to fight something very much the same, did we win?

the drug lord war is pretty much out of control but it is public knowledge to stay clear of border towns. its bad at all mexican border towns that are or used to be drug ports. its going to be a blood bath until we decide which side of the fight we are on. im guessing we silently fund both for one reason or another. blame the terrorists and 911 for making us watch the airport and port security. the south americans teamed up with the mexican smugglers and mexican government sent the army to put the smack down on the corruption. but every time they are successful. the rest of the drug lords fight for the dead ones power.
i wouldnt blaim az law enforcement for the acts of drug lords and people smugglers. no one wants to get involved in a war on home soil that really cant be finished. i guess we could nuke mexico but were would we get chicelets? and reissue fender amps?

I'm not sure that the people that live on the east coast can understand the huge problem that illegal immigration poses on the border states as well as the nearby states.
We are almost totally overrun by illegal aliens in my state.
The BS line about them doing the work that nobody else will is purely BS.
I am in a union trade and have seen first hand these guys taking jobs from legal citizens. I knew they were illegal because eventually a few got found out and were let go.
These are jobs that pay $30/ hr.
Deportation will never work and you can't secure a border good enough.
But if you make these people un-hireable, then they will self deport.
I have no problem with people that immigrate legally and want to become American citizens.
Most of the illegals around here have no desire to adapt American values and blend in.
They can keep their heritage and ethnicity most immigrants do.
But they should also become good neighbors, obey the laws and strive to be proud American.
Mexico's second largest income after oil is the money that Mexican workers send "home".
That is money not being spent here.
Then you have the whole welfare and medical treatment abuse.
Why should an illegal alien be awarded welfare payments?
Why should they be allowed to use the ER room at a hospital for their doctor's office.
Why should they be able to sue people in civil court?
How many more Americans will have to die before illegal criminals are stopped from entering the country?
The southern border is becoming a war zone yet the president is doing nothing to stop it.
Great, he got his health care bill passed.
What about our economy Mr President?
What about the near 20% unemployment in my state and others?
When will you work on the economy instead of campaigning for the next election?
Obama called the new Arizona law misguided......yeah right.
Did you know he severely slashed the funding for border control on our southern border?
He setting the stage for amnesty in hopes of garnering their votes in 2012.
I don't think Americans are going to stand for that and I also think that other states will follow Arizona's example.

Gary Glasman lives in Arizona....don't throw out the baby with the bath water...just sayin'.
I live 20 or so miles from the border. It's been a blood bath in Tijuana the last few years. Really ugly stuff. The Mexican-Americans I know won't go down there anymore. There are complexities to all of this that can't be resolved by firm stands or ideology.

Re: Boycot Arizona
I lived in the Western US for 25 years, 5 of them most recently in Tucson. In a way I can understand why they did this as these alien smugglers and the drug biz assholes have really f****d up Southern AZ in the last several years.
However, this legislation is clearly going nowhere because it is simply illegal and an attempted usurpation of Federal jurisdiction. Federal authority over immigration issues is 100% and in the Constitution too.
While AZ is in many ways still very much a Cowboy state with a Texas outlook on life, not all Arizonans are Nazi bigots (except most of the politicians and much of Maricopa county). Tucson is 100 miles closer to the border than Phoenix and we saw it all close up, it has to be cleaned up.
Nothing will change until the Feds acknowledge their responsibility and take some serious action to make it change, so if this "legislation" causes them to do that it will have accomplished something useful, despite the to me dubious motivations of its proponents.

Make drugs legal, amend the constitution so that non-naturalized folks kids don't get citizenship, and knock down the border. I grew up with them people. I like 'em.

When you need documentation to take a jog or walk the dogs, its' a civil liberties issue. Immigration poses a lot of issues that need good policy responses, but I doubt that this is one of them.
Re: Boycot Arizona
I don't mind if they stay I just wish they would learn to drive. Limit the size of there families for population growth reasons. Be required to have an education and if they work in a us business please please please speak understandable English. Just saying it's frustrating I learned Spanish to visit Mexico.

I seriously doubt the police will pull into the Home Depot parking lot and start rounding them up.
Too much paperwork for little gain (Assuming any of this flies BTW).
What they do need is Fed support when they catch people red handed, just to turn them over to INS...who do nothing to the very worst offenders for fear of political retribution.
That is exactly why the law as passed is so extreme...to raise the red flag and tell the Feds to tighten up.
I doubt this passes muster.
That isn't really the point.
Political issues sometimes require political solutions.
Edit to add: I am not against immigrants, not even against the seasonal workers. Just get them documented.
And repeal that one provision that states a child born in the US is automatically a citizen!
History displays that was put in place for one man-Hamilton.
He was born in Haiti (I think) and the other
founders wanted to give him a pass to reward him
for his service to George Washington (thus allowing him also to run for presidency).
All of us are Immigrants in one way or another.
My family has been kicking around since 1630, but still.
And even that 1/4 Blackfoot in my blood is likely immigrant.
