got my rear sight , an h2 buffer and a few mags .
the rear sight confirmed what i was fearing .My riser for my reddot is to talll.
when i tried bore sighting it i ended up with my front pin all the way to the top of the ears and it looked like it still needed to come up. but i figuered it was just me.
so when i shot it it was still shooting hi. I figured well im no wild bill . im probably flinching or something.
guess ill save the dot for another gun I dont know how much riser blocks cost but im already getting more money than i wanted in it.
I found a shorter block on amazon for ten bucks . Guess i can swing that

You are starting to see the perils when putting this stuff together. I'm not advocating being a total brand whore, but I avoid cheap junk or knockoffs like the plague and I repeat what I said in one of my very early posts about the market is flooded with junk and to avoid it.

There's a whole junk clone industry which originally came out of the airsoft craze and then it trickled over to well let"s fit on a real gun and sell it for cheap and because it looks like the originals, folks will buy it. Nevermind that the specs are off, but who cares because it's cheap.

I was going reply with a drawn out reply about co-witnessing, but I found this on the web.

A gentleman in Buffalo was riding as passenger when his wife was pulled over for a traffic check. Out of courtesy he told the officer he had a pistol permit and the pistol was in the glove box. Officer asked to see the gun, removed the clip and counted there were more than seven rounds. The gentleman was arrested and taken to jail. Learning of the incident, a local judge ordered the state police to go to the mans home, providing them with a warrant to remove ALL firearms.

The "crime" of having more than seven rounds in the clip is a felony. As a felon, the gentleman would be prevented from ever owning a firearm again (of any type).

This incident went through appeals process and eventually the gentleman was vindicated, and the felony conviction reversed. In any case he was traumatized and victimized by run-away-DRACONIAN enforcement of unconstitutional laws.
Magazine, not clip.....sorry it's my firearms pet peeve OCD :D

I stand corrected!

That being the case, I don't think I want my face on the cover of a magazine after all.

Somehow i Didn't see your reply . it's a trs-25 I believe . actually things seem to be working out with the cowitness thing . I guess it's supposed to be lower third with the riser that came with. just buy bore sighting it all lines up.
So if I look over the sights the reddot should still be Poi ?
I actually like looking at the dot through the aperture. Guess I have stigmatism. The dot looks much crisper and like a tiny dot instead of 5 or 6 dots blobbed together. I'm down to my weak eye ya know.

Yes, however check the POI with the red dot at various increments out to let's say 100-125 yards just to get a baseline with that particular ammo. Also keep in mind POI will change with variations in ammo.

Sounds like once you get the stock and pistol grip upgraded you will be squared away.

Yes the grip I wrapped some tape around it. It made it fatter but my hand needs to sit back way farther. I can still reach around the trigger and touch my thumb with my trigger finger. I was gonna order the maid grip but they were out of black by the time I ordered. I thought about carving some out of this hard ass tropical wood I got . I'd just be to much work. may as well be machineing them out of aluminum. But I do like wood grips.
I may still carve a back strap for it and more graffers tapes . I don't need no fancy lookin gun
Oh gotta put on my ambi saftey I got too
Ive got a couple of days off this week hopefully I'll get a chance to really run this thing. It's 7 degrees this morning I bet the range is empty . got a couple thousand rounds of some m855 to break it in

I have right about 600 in it including the reddot and 40 rounder.
That's pretty good, I paid around $850 for my Colt around 1994.

Nowadays you can buy separate parts and put together the rifle of your dreams!

I think one of the beauties of the AR-15 5.56 rifles is the lack of recoil.

Although I love shooting my paratrooper model SKS 7.62, the AR-15 is in a class by itself.
Devastating firepower and accuracy is what I like.

When I knew I was getting married, I bought a few guns before to avoid any argument about money.

Me and my buddy were in the "buy one gun a month club"when I was single, for quite a while. :D.

There was a local gun store that sold guns pretty much at wholesale price, this was just before the internet was common.
So they just sold volume instead of trying to make a killing on each gun.

I miss that place a lot.

25 years ago or so, just about anybody could get a Federal Firearms License.
My coworker had one and we bought a lot of guns.

Sad to say when I didn't have work for a long time I had to sell off some to make ends meet.

But I still have my favorites.

I think the coolest gun I have is a Kimber 1911 .45acp.
I bought one when they first came out.

It's a beautiful pistol and accurate.

I put a couple hundred rounds through it today .ran great the H2 buffer reduced recoil a lot. an ol boy at the range let me use his sled to sight it in. After everyone left I put a beer can on the back stop and worked it back and forth hit it more than I missed From a hundred yards . the red dot makes it to easy I feel like I'm cheating
I'm pretty happy .

I can't afford nothing like that . I'm probably not agoov enough shot to justify anything like that anyways . kinda like my guitar playing :(
I got more like 700 in it now :x

You're not allowed to have an AR15 in Connecticut. Because some mentally deficient individual did a horrible thing with one. If someone with character had one, too, in time, whole different story.

Blame the gun. NSSF is headquartered here. People still gather to protest their existence, because they, gasp, support gun safety.

Somebody shoot me now.
