Re: Update
I see you still have your sense of humor! That's a really good sign you are on the mend. Think positive that everything will work out and the insurance will cover you. If it starts to go off the rails, you'll know it and don't hesitate to blow the whistle, but remember to do it nicely. Those insurance guys have a job to do, which is to represent the insurance company, but also to balance that interest with fairness. Just keep your eye open. It will all work out. Glad to hear you and the dogs are home.ampmike wrote:...in a he'll tell with three dogs, that was ruff!

Fire
Yea both the fire Marshall and my ins. co. agreed on that,Today I believe Dewalt comes out to see it.I had the before and after pics which were the biggest help and you can see that radio and charger were sitting in the exact spot on the bench where the fire started. So we shall see today what Dewalt will say. Thanks Man,Mikey

If they are smart, they will cover it and ask you to sign a non disclosure agreement.
A newspaper story about the family man burned out of his livelihood by a defective product would be a public relations disaster.

Re: My shop burned down
I had sort of glossed over it and didn't think about it but your home owners will subrogate against Dewalt's insurance company for whatever they have to pay out to you. This is good news meaning your HO will be able to recover their money.
Now this is in theory. Dewalt's insurance company could push back here or there or everywhere but with the fire marshall report, which would be viewed as an independent opinion or should, that is pretty damning and hard to get around.
So let's say your HO pays all that you ask. They in turn ask Dewalt's ins company to pony up the same amount. They may or may not but surely they will for most unless they completely deny any responsiblity whatsoever.
This is where Google comes in handy to see how many other fires/lawsuits are/have been out there for fires started the same way.
No matter how all that shakes out it is better news for you that there is a third party for your HO to go after versus not.
