Perhaps we should have a sister site called the guitar garage.
Of course someone has to pay for the site. Thanks to whoever pays for this site and thanks for not having ads
If it were to come about for a Guitar DIY section, I agree that it should be not only members only, but also have a minimum post accessibility. I certainly don't hate this idea in the least, but, keeping this site true to form, this is where my mind is at.
I very much enjoy the diversity of this group, so much knowledge and craftiness has been displayed! Having another avenue to explore, especially such an important sidekick to the amplifiers we all clearly love, evidently holds its own as far as validity. There is a Speakers/Cabinets subforum, kinda the same thing as far as a relative connection, no? It doesn't mean a bunch should pop up, either. There are a lot of relevant topics akin to guitar amps.
Personally, I'd prefer it be tucked away as not to attract flies, (If not only just at first, or watched/moderated carefully) not because it's a deformed step-child, but because of points made throughout. I guess I am on the fence, at least the poll reflects that for all voters as well! Leaning slightly to one side, however.

No way, you actually did that?? I've said, since about the age of whenever I could talk, that wind chimes sound like trash being shuffled thrown about. If they have to make noise, make it harmonize! I bet yours actually sounds cool. 440 or 432?
My neighbors have a big wind chime about 25 feet from my bedroom window. I want to throw rocks at it. No offence, but theirs is just noise, not at all pretty.
Whoa, hold on a minute. I did not mean to imply that I made this wind chime. I was down at the local mom and pop hardware store--just making a lap to see what I could find--and found the wind chimes. They are hand made in the USA by "Majesty Bells". The claim they are hand tuned, which I believe because looking at the chimes, I can see that the end of each tube was ground. The tubes are anodized aluminum. I agree that most wind chimes sound like a hungry cat in a garbage can. Not these, they are very musical and pleasing to the ear. I bought two of them, this one, 5 note in the key of A and another one, 6 note in the key of D.
It does seem like the suspension holes are in different places on each tube. I suspect it is at some harmonic interval so that it doesn't dampen the vibration.
Now if I could just figure out the gravitational anomaly, everything would be yippie skippie.
After some thought.I voted yes . I think with this group we could have the best diy guitar forum on the net. If some certain people are willing to contribute.
We are talking diy right?
The nut is one of the most important parts for proper intonation and playability and tuning I wouldn't mind seeing how some our guys go about making one. Its really not that easy

The making of a nut: first you need to be dropped on your head when you were little.
But seriously, yeah, there is a skill (maybe it's just patience and dumb luck when it comes to me) involved with making a good nut. I would need to use pictures though. And we all know what happens to my gravitationally influenced pictures.
