If your scope does not have a channel 1 output, you can use a BNC "T" adapter: http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Mue ... rE%2frUZSC

The center male connector plugs onto your scope input, one side female connector is for your test leads, and the other side female connector can be cabled over to your meter.

Also, for extending BNC cables, try one of these BNC Female to BNC Female adapters: http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Mue ... rE%2frUZSC

And lastly, to get from a BNC cable to your meter, have a look at this handy dandy BNC Female to Dual Banana adapter: http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Mue ... rE%2frUZSC

All of these can be found on ebay for considerably less money. I used the Mouser site for the pictures :-)

Is there a similar quick check for the Fluke 179?

Yup Ken - the old "ac ohms" position that DMM manufacturers forgot to add.
