I was almost a straight A student in high school.Had advanced classes on the math team.I quit when they started having lockdown drug raids whith dogs and police and guns and stuff.
I walked out to my truck in the middle of it got in it and never went back.
I refuse to have my rights trampled.I'm willing to die for them.
I'm willing to be a poor dumbass construction worker for the rest of my life for them.

Heard from my med student friends that the most umm, "maladjusted" guys were the ones going for ob/gyn specialty. All the more reason for women to choose female ob/gyn doctors.

And of course, there are the psychiatrists. Ranging from a little bit nutty to full out whacko.

My friends wound up mostly in the ER, trying to patch up most everything. Sorta like what I do here with amps. Pays a lot less but I'd rather deal with the amps.

Seems to be a requirement. One of my customers was school psychologist in a district hm, I think in Rockland County, just across the river from da Bronx and Yonkers. Some of the stuff he had to deal with... let's say if you started out sane as could be, wouldn't stay that way for long. Sort PTSD. Heckuva guitar player. Always had a good band. Retired, remarried and moved to fruity nutty flakey California where I hear he's getting along just fine.

OK I can admit this now.
A few years back I got popped on a random drug screen.
I belong to a union (or did) that can random test anybody whenever they want.

I had smoked some weed the weekend before and randomly for 40 years.....
Imagine that, a guitar player that smokes weed.
Never smoked it on the job.

I had to stop work, go to a drug counselor until I could test clean.
So to play it safe I didn't work for about 30 days.

The counselor who was a manly gay woman, admitted she had smoked pot as a teenager and all the way through college.
She believed all drugs should be legal.
Cocaine, Heroin, LSD, you name it.
I spent more time listening to her go off on rabbit trails than trying to make me see the error of my ways.
Personally, I think she needed more counseling than I did.

I lost over $4K in income.

Although I was able to come back to the same employer, I felt like there was a shadow over me and as soon as work slowed down, I was laid off.

In the end, I made a mistake and it cost me big.

I think pot should be legalized or at the very least de-criminalized.

The problem with legalizing it is, no employer that drug screens is going to allow it and since it stays in your system so long that they can't tell you if you smoked it last night or last week.

Anyway, that's my confession for this week. :D

It seem weird to me that my whole career working in the US Dept of Veterans Affairs we were not drug tested once. Didn't matter to me because I never used drugs but some co-workers couldn't make it through the day without some smoke. We did have background checks every 3 years that was fun getting investigated and interviewed by FBI agents.

When I would buy a gun the guy would say this can take a while, I'll be back, but didn't have to wait long. He would say what kind of work do you do that was the fastest background check I've ever had comb back. I would just say government work and wink.

Tom, that was one post too many. I refuse to believe that you are a low-life, dope smoking derelict. Soon you'll be living the reefer madness nightmare. :P

I am not for legalization, but I am for decriminalization. Legalization just makes it a controlled substance. Nothing good ever comes of that. And it drives the price through the roof. Americans should be free to grow and consume as they wish.

She was high as a kite Tom. Sorta tragicomedy that she has the "counseling" job with that spiel. Wonder what HER boss would do, or HER's or HER's... if that rap was recorded & sent up the line. Probably all have a big horse laff as they pass the bong around.

I've had to work with some people, some my bosses, that were crosseyed and painless, but that's OK, they have prescriptions for happy pills. Major "superior attitudes" from them too. "My doc says I have to be zonked. Everybody else - you are low lifes."

Yeah, it's crazy that pot is a schedule I drug.

It is the easiest thing to get busted for using, or growing.

Cops like that.
I like how they bust a grow that isn't even to bud stage yet and they claim it was worth $3 million!
Give me a break.

If I was to give a reason for smoking it last time, I would say that my Dad had died a couple weeks before and I was having trouble sleeping through the night thinking about things.
I slept like a baby after a few tokes.

I would much rather smoke a jay than drink whiskey, but whiskey is legal.

I've seen guys so hung over at work in the morning hours where they would stumble around and then get aboard their 5 ton track hoe.
Yeah, that's safe.

But man, smoke a little weed after work and you are a drug addict low life.

Just think about how many fewer domestic disturbances and murders there would be if everybody just mellowed out. :D

I was very surprised when Colorado and Washington legalized it.
Really caught the bureaucrats asleep at the wheel.
How to monitor it, how to sell it, how to control it!

Uh, you can't, it's a weed.

And I was similarly surprised when Oregon didn't. Home of Ken Kesey fer pete's sake. All New England states and NJ - medical and/or low quant possession no problemo. Surprise! NY - when? C'mon guys in Smallbany, surprise me with a good one for a change.

The similarity to the downfall of alcohol prohibition has been noted in many articles and commentaries. There's just no constitutional amendment to repeal, to make it obvious and final. C'mon ossifer, haven't you heard of the 37th Amendment? Better find sumpin' else to do.

I guarantee you, once it's completely legal, big pharma will step in and lobby for the same legislation big tobacco uses to make growing tobacco for your own use illegal. Then growing pot will be illegal again.

Maybe that's not such a bad thing. Not sure I want to be on the legal side. Not sure I'd like the company.
I'm not growing or even smoking right now but retirement's not far up the road. Then I won't give crap. I doubt seriously that anyone's coming way out here to see what I'm up to. My biggest concern will be the kids! They're all down on it. Now aint that a switch. When I was growing up I had to watch out for the parents, and now I have to watch out for the kids?! It aint fair, I tell ya.

Seriously, I don't now because if I get hurt on the job it's instant testing, and on my job I'm often grabbing folks as they fall so minor injuries are a definite hazard, heck they're likely. But in four years I'm off the hook.
