Trying to get thru a big stack of repairs. I'd rather be building.

Chief MC - I always thought your location Peenemunde CA, was a cover name for somewhere near Edwards AFB - rocket launches and all.

I thought it was the German rocket site during WWII. :)

Does staring at stuff count?
I am sourcing stuff for a JTM-45 head and staring at a 1/2 done CE chassis with a 102 build going on.

Absolutely correct, and that's where the USA got many of its early rocket scientists - real ones. Werner von Braun I think, and many others. They were the early foundation of what became NASA.

You can work for us, or stand trial at Nuremburg. That's the deal. If you were one of them what would you pick? That's right. Cape Canaveral and Huntsville sure beats a rope around the neck.

In any case I thought Chief MC and his twisted sense of humor might be telling us in a roundabout way his location near Edwards. Looks like I was wrong, no biggie. Wonder what the Chief's real 20 is... Maybe we'll get an answer.

working on not working....

but as usual:
-just started a telecaster style short neck electro/acoustic hollowbody guitar
-designed and built my own acoustic pickup just last week - for a new guity
-a cajon few weeks ago
-just did a hand carved standard 1-piece conga drum - took 3 years there!

last amp was a dumble #124 style about 6 months ago - been a while there

and the 5 broken house things - 4 broken car things- 3 broken yard hings - 2 broken neighbor things - and the everything's broken....but its ok - just wave and smile :D

-just like the song- lifes like that sometimes -
it really is a journey, and you just cant farm out the battle wounds

I'm working on nothing physically but I'm planning a lot. My newest idea is to build kind of hybrid Marshall Superlead with shared 67/68 spec switched one to the other with relays - shared vs split cathode, two tonestacks, PPIMV, build on VOX style tagboard... Maybe high voltage clean solid state FX loop? The time will show

Collecting parts for several rebuilds and restorations.

1962 Concert chassis, this may become a Pro or Bandmaster (need faceplate)
1966 Bassman
1965 Princeton (if I can determine if this is a legit Prune Boogie it will be left alone)
1981 Deluxe Reverb
Blackface Champ

May have a JMP 50watt coming in at some point.

Lots of distractions with photography related interests lately.

I'm prepping some chassis and building a 18 watt marshall TMB. I pulled this PT (on left) from a Power amp that ran 4 el84 it seemed a bit small for 4 power tubes, so i'm gonna use it for the 18 watter, Here's a pix of the pulled PT then, a heyboer 18 watt trans, then a GDS heyboer 36 watt Pt. So ya i'm working, I got 4 days off, and hope too get 4 chassis all prepped, and ready to build, also in the pix is my first fluke its a 8024 B i got at a yard sale for 10$ :D

I'm about to apply the smoke test to a 2-watt build.

Yes, there will be some trouser flappin' when this amp is played in anger.

Sorry about the flare from the camera flash in the second image.

Oh yeah that too. Should have thought of Pasadena JPL, one of my college apartment mates works there. He was a math & physics whiz. Now way beyond whiz. Who knows, maybe one of your neighbors.

I always enjoyed driving past the Skunk Works up the road apiece in Burbank. Until I found out it was that hangar along the highway near the airport, I always thought SW was way out in the Mohave boondocks.

Man, that is a nice clean PTP build.
I would love to build something like that some day.

Leo, wasn't Skunk Works supposedly out at Area 51?
Kelly Johnson ran the program.

The research & build hangar marked "Lockheed" is at Burbank airport, a regular commercial airport I've flown in & out of. What gets built is either carried by large transports or truck, or flown out in the middle of the night when "nobody's looking." It's likely that some things are tested at Edwards too. And lots of engineering input from JPL too.

I'm quite sure the skunkers tested their products at '51, the U-2 for instance. There's a book "Skunk Works" that gives lots of details. My brother, who's deep into aviation, says there are some, uh, intentional well I guess you gotta call 'em "fibs" in that book, but he knows people who know people, you know what I mean, and that's the way things go in the world of top secret spy vs spy. Look up & smile Structo - here's lookin' at ya! Your tax dollars at work. Hey there's a bit of spinach stuck between your teeth. Enjoy Independence Day.

One of the side benefits of Skunk Works and local custom-build-for-Gov't shops are a couple of excellent surplus shops in Burbank. Ask Apex Jr - he's got one of them.

For your listening and dancing pleasure, here's a photo of the shoulder patch from Skunk Works' Minotaur program:
