I think TAG has taken a turn in the right direction since there seems to have been a mass Tourette affliction.

I only said all that to get to the font part.

Re: If I was a big fatass amp builder
Disclaimer: I am not hear to preach. In fact, the fatass part was the funniest part of the post for me as well. But perhaps I can shed some light here.
I've been hugely overweight most of my life. I'm a pretty smart guy; I know the math: eat less + exercise = a smaller me. I've even had success with the formula a few isolated times throughout the years. I ACCEPT FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY CONDITION.
But here's the deal (please don't read this and just see the "EXCUSE" red flag go up - if you do this, then you clearly are not considering what I am about to say): Many overweight people are addicted to food. Food is our "drug of choice". We use it to get numb in the same manner other people drink booze, shoot heroin, smoke weed all day, etc. Here is the major difference between food and any of those other "drugs": You do not need booze or heroin or weed to sustain your life. You do, however, need food. Telling a food addict to "eat less" is akin to telling a coke addict he has to cut his consumption back from three-grams a day to a half-gram a day. It's easier to stop using coke altogether than it is to cut back to a "healthy dose".

Re: If I was a big fatass amp builder
Weight isn't an issue for me when picking nice people or friends.
I have been a bean pole and otherwise in my life. I was still me. I gained 20lbs in the last 6 months myself.
No offense intended, I promise. I still wouldn't use those fonts.

That was all good Lou, but I "think" Miles was aiming at... rhymes with "grumble." And I followed up, with that in mind. Let me know if I mis-guessed.JazzGuitarGimp wrote:I'm a pretty smart guy
Takes all kinds, Icelandic icepicks & jolly Santa Claus types & everyone in between.
Now back to the fonts already in progress...

This is an interesting point that I hadn't considered before. Imagine an alcoholic who would die unless he drinks a bit. Sounds like an impossible existence- damned if you do and damned if you don't...JazzGuitarGimp wrote:Telling a food addict to "eat less" is akin to telling a coke addict he has to cut his consumption back from three-grams a day to a half-gram a day. So goes everything, I think so.
The one human condition we all share in some familiar form is joy, and you can extrapolate that to any end.
Still, the fonts are killing me!

And I sure as hell didn't mean to derail the conversation, which, as Miles has so eloquently asserted, is about fonts.

The digital font makes me act like a dog with one of those cone things on. I keep backing up and shaking my head. Yesterday's future never really pans out.

Townes van Zandt. Interview with his daughter brings this problem up Heard it on an NPR feed, probably Terry Gross' "Fresh Air" but I can't find a link for you.martin manning wrote:Imagine an alcoholic who would die unless he drinks a bit. Also Bob Mayo, whose heart attacked him a couple weeks into an otherwise successful "drying up." I got to work with Bob - he had uncanny talent on keyboards, guitar and vocals. In his last email to me, asked where to bring his worn-out strat for a proper refret. Never came to pass.
And that's just a couple.

Re: If I was a big fatass amp builder
I have been thin my whole life. After using food as a crutch for most of my existance, I have finally gained about 20 lbs in the last few years. I am wearing it well, but the problem isn't much different than described.
I was just making a bad joke. I am sorry if I offended anyone. I haven't met anyone here so I don't know my audience and I shouldn't be making jokes like that. Back to fat asses, skinny asses and Dumble fonts.
Miles, please stop posting links like that! The attack was a blitzkrieg until I closed the tab that you forced me to open.
