I even showed a page capture with instructions on how to get the information on the bills that would show everyone what congress did to force this lending on the banks in their legislation. Did you go to the site and do some research before you made this "From what I heard..." post? You did not. Just like millions of Americans who do not take the time to find out what is really going on, you just regurgitated what you heard. This is why the average American citizen has absolutely no clue what is really going on. No offense intended and nothing personal as even I find it really hard to wade through these exceeding long bills with so much legalise dribble, but we have to do it to keep the watch on.
I got 13 seconds into it. Then I went totally blank. That only gets me 1/3 of the way across the cover sheet and I have to start over...

Oh, yeah. That doesn't take four dozen pages of pork buried in each bill into account. You think I can't stay on topic?! If it doesn't relate to the primary intent of the legislation it shouldn't be in there. I'd think that with Line Item Veto in the hands of the Executive all that crap would get edited out. Oh, I forgot. We're looking at The Demise of Literacy in the U.S.. "Executive" not "Editor". My bad!
bnwitt wrote:Congress is the villain in this debacle just like they are the villain in almost every national issue. The number of bills proposed and enacted by congress annually is staggering. Do we really need all of these new laws? The answer is no. But, every new bill usually has some wonderful title and communicated purpose with page after page of earmarks and other riders tacked on for the benefit of some congressman or senator’s financial gain. They make the bills as difficult to read and decipher as possible in order to screen the hidden riders but really just count on the laziness of Americans to get away with it. I spoon fed everyone who has read this thread with the tool to discovery and I wonder how many have used that tool. This is why the ‘how Obama got elected” video scares me.
Ah. Now we're on the same page. Less laws = more better.

Forget about The Ten Commandments. There's pork in there, too.

My God, your God. Whatever! If your God ain't my God I guess I'm just gonna hafta kill ya. I'm kidding of course. It amounts to the same thing if you want to kill me over your God and I have to kill you first. So we're back to Square One...

Some people just need killin' and that's all there is to it so we can scratch that one out. Seriously. If we all stuck to that one we wouldn't be in Iraq.

Covet yer wife. If she's cute you betcha I'm gonna cast an appreciative glance her way. If she's righteous she'll stay. If I'm more righteous than you she won't. Or not. It's all a Cosmic Square Dance, we all do cee do and end up with who we're supposed to end up with. Or not. It just depends on how happy or how miserable we want to be.

I shalt not steal? You betcha I shalt not. I'm gonna leave that up to the people who are really good at it. Best I can achieve is amateur status next to the current crop o' bandits.

And so on. Which brings us to Casey's One Commandment:

Don't mess wif me or mine and we'll get along just fine!!!

Yep. That is exactly what they're counting on.

I completely agree there should be no riders. The line item veto would help but the prez would keep what he liked as well. In my opinion there should be one law, one item per bill period. No riders nothing else ever. They've already shown they can do thousands of bills in a short period so it won't slow them down too much.

I wish we could tell them all, "Go home. We'll pay you your salary. Just don't come in and make any more laws. We've got more than we need."

Of course you know what they say, "Wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first."
Great things happen in a vacuum
